I've used it off and on since I found out about it last June(?), but I felt I hadn't gotten the mixture right. I just didn't like the fell of the castor oil and I reduced the percentage quite a bit. I tried it with jojoba as well and it was a little better but not just right.
So, yesterday I remembered I had Africa's Best U.H.O. and looked up the ingredients, score! Last night instead of picking up some jojoba oil (or any other oil) I mixed 1 tbsp of ABUHO, 1 tbsp pumpkin seed oil, and 1 tbsp hemp seed oil. I used it and liked it but reuse a few times will tell if it'll work for me of course. I wasn't sure on the AB oil just because of all of the ingredients so decided to do it that way.

Make sure the oils you are using is non-comedogenic. I think the original mix of OCM with the olive oil isn't the best and may clog your pores. Based on http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acn...e/article6.htm olive oil has a level of 2, while jojoba has 1 and sunflower 0.
The lower the level the better.
Castor oil - 1. Good
Olive oil - 2. Okay
Sunflower oil - 0. Very good
Jojoba oil - 1. Good

I'll have to try the honey. I use ocm with camellia oil. I wasn't doing it for awhile during our extreme heat, but went back because my regular cleansers still had me breaking out! Not what you want, especially in your mid forties! After two times all my breakouts are going away. I love this method!

I've been doing OCM for about 6 months now and love it - my skin isn't perfect (there is still that pesky hormonal stuff), but it's as good or better than it was with all sort of expensive (>$150/month!!!) products and DEFINITELY less oily.
I mostly came here to share my excitement that I got a new oil today. I figure if anyone else might be excited, it will be in this thread, heh.
There has been a bunch of research lately that thyme has some excellent anti-acne properties, but it's too new to have any products available. Except that there IS thyme oil - which I found and purchased today and have added it (in EO fashion) to my cleansing mix (castor/grapeseed/safflower/tea tree/lavender). I am perhaps overly excited about this...

I know alot of people here use OCM for their acne. My situation is a bit different and thought I would throw my 2 cents in for anyone who has the same issues as I do. I have normal and sometimes dry flaky skin. I don't really have any wrinkles or fine lines because the dry skin thing is relatively new. I was normal oily all through my 20's. (39 years old now) I was diagnosed with rosasea about a year ago. No cleaners that were supposed to be for this problem worked...it seemed to make it worse. So, I decided to give OCM a try...I had nothing to lose at that point. It has been wonderful for my rosacea! Most days I forget I even have it. The only time I have issues is when other outside factors trigger it (like spicy foods and caffeine). After reading through the thread, I don't recall seeing anyone mention it, but I use avocado oil. It is supposed to be really good for dry and/or aging skin. It is also loaded with vitamins, amino acids and proteins. (I use a mixture of 5% co, 95% avocado, a dash of tea tree when I have a rare zit) I only use 5% co because more left my skin feeling too tight and dry. I could probably do without it completely, but I like the cleansing benefits. If I feel I need more moisture, I add a drop of Argan oil after I am finished cleansing (buy in bulk or generic...so much cheaper than brands like Tarte). In the morning I just rinse with water and moisturize with Argan. I'm thinking about adding Sea Buckthorn Oil in there because it is supposed to have amazing properties as far as helping age/sun spots to fade. Anyway, hope this information helps someone out there!

Has anyone tried using raw unrefined extra virgin coconut oil as their carrier oil? If so, what were your results? Also, can you still use OTC/Rx acne meds to clear up existing or future break-outs?

Coconut oil is solid at 72 or 74 degrees, so it wouldn't be liquid most of the year (at least where I live.) It's also not very comedogenic Comedogenic Ratings

It's NOT comedogenic? I've been reading some mixed info on coconut oil. Some say that it is comedogenic and will clog pores. However, there was mention that the CO needs to be unrefined and you won't have any issues. Now I'm TOTALLY confused

If you have problems with breaking out, then I would NOT use regular or virgin coconut oil on your face.
*For even more confusion*
Fractionated coconut oil, aka caprylic/capric triglyceride oil, has undergone processing and is normally fine for problematic skin. It's much lighter and has a 'drier' feel to it as well. This oil isn't normally found in stores, and will need to be bought online, but it is quite lovely.

This may have been mentioned here already but this has good info about comedogenic and irritating ingredients. Become an Acne Detective

I tried it with castor oil too thick for my skin. I've used sweet almond oil which is lighter and better. I rotate it out though between my cleanser. But I do use oil mix as night time moisturizer or in the am too.
