Just wondering if there are any other Celiacs on this site. My sister has CD, so I've grown really accustomed to a gluten-free diet. I know tons of recipes and even wanted to open my own gluten-free restaurant for a while.

Anybody?

My #2 son has Celiac, we found out when he was 18 months old and he is 15 now, so we all keep to a gluten free diet for the most part. Sometimes I make up regular stuff for the rest of my family but do his dish gluten free, say like pasta dishes.

How do you keep your grocery budget down? Or can you?
I'm looking into going gluten free to see if it affects how I feel.

My family is gluten free - we have been for over a year now. My husband has gut issues and also lots of food allergies, so we eat a very restricted diet. At first I thought I'd never be able to survive the change, LOL, but I actually love it now. Even if he didn't have these issues, I wouldn't go back to eating the way we did before.

Regarding groceries, it can get expensive, but we've found a nice store that uses one of those punch cards so that we can get 10% off our groceries from time to time, and they are always having decent sales going on. I suppose we just got lucky that we have a good place like that so near to our house.

I usually do all my regular grocery shopping at the store I normally go to... Like Wal-Mart. Then I just buy all my sister's special stuff at health food stores. Since she's the only one on a completely gluten-free diet, the rest of my family is free to eat regularly as long as we're careful not to cross contaminate. We've gotten really good at grocery shopping.

My best friend has CD, for almost 2 years now. I'm always on the lookout for recipes and products for her. We should start sharing some recipes. I have some great dessert ones, including an amazing chocolate cake.

Chocolate cake, that sounds amazing I've taught myself how to make GF fried rice, fried chicken, gravies, sauces, soups, stir frys... I have tons of recipes. Just let me know what you're looking for!
