Chia seeds
Do any of you eat these and if so how?
|
I put them in my fruit smoothies.
|
I have had these in smoothies. I have also had them where you put a 1/2 cup of seeds in a big cup of water with lime and sugar in it. You let the seeds sit until they get the gel around them (about 20 min.), then drink. It has a funny texture to it, but I kind of like it.

-Smoothies
-Chocolate Chia pudding -Chia eggs (if you want to make something vegan) -Overnight oatmeal -Chili (to thicken, if you'd like) People also use them as energy gel, like for marathons and such. Chia seeds act like flaxseeds in that they're good binders for cooking (chia seed hair gel anyone???) |
Here's one of the old threads on chia seeds http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlta...pet-seeds.html Big problem straining them for hair gel.

I love these! You can eat them pretty much any way you want. They are small and tasteless with lots of crunch factor. So far I add them to salads, oatmeal and yogurt. A friend of mine drinks them in her water. You can add them to veggie or fruit smoothies as well. People even bake with them. The sky's the limit. |
I don't like them when the get all jelly-like. I eat them crunchy as a topping in yogurt, ice cream or other sweet things.
|
I just put them on top of whatever I'm eating... Just a little spoonful
