Paleo anyone?

Is anyone here following the paleo diet? I am sure that the increased protein intake made my hair curlier. (I know probably just healthier, but my curls are more defined) I chose the paleo diet because I have lots of allergies and this just seems to work for me . Anyone got any experiences or recipes?
I did it about a year and a half ago along w/ drinking water w/ ACV...and it was cool. I lost weight and felt good. Then I took a trip out of town and totally fell off the wagon. The weight came back and I can't seem to get on/stay on it again. IDK why.

To satisfy my sweet tooth, I started eating Jocalat Larabars (now discontinued) and I made them at home as well (ground nuts, cocoa, dates). And I creamed my iced coffe w/ coconut milk. I read NomNom Paleo, Paleo Living and Easy Paleo (online).

I just started the Autoimmune Paleo diet in hopes of figuring out what the hell I am sensitive to. It's haaaard. Otoh two days in some aches and pains appear to already be abating. I don't know gown"healthy" it is but I am definitely eating a BUTTLOAD of veggies just probably too much fat (even if it's good day). But boy it's hard.

I'm planning on starting this soon. From what I have been reading is that you don't eat dairy, grains, beans, potatoes, sugar, or any processed foods. I eat pretty close to this already, but I gained 7 lbs which I contribute to my drinking too much over the past month.

I have ankylosing spondylitis, so I started hoping to help with my symptoms. It has worked wonders. I have been doing it for about 18 months now, on and off. I can't stick to it during holidays, especially when staying with friends or family.

After about 6 month on the diet I was able to (on the advice of my rheumatologist) come off the chemotherapy drug that I had been on for 5 years to suppress my immune system. I can feel the pain if I eat too much starch, it's a great motivator 😀 But it constantly surprises me: yesterday I had a serving of rice with dinner, this morning my fingers are swollen and hurt....

I am saying this as encouragement: keep going 😃

If you are going to drink, hard cider (lowest carb you can find) and meade are recommended.

I read about the Hard Cider. There was a list of those to drink. Some, which seem to be the ones you find more readily, are high in sugar & you shouldn't drink.

There are so many rules! For me the most important part is no grains and low carb. I try to eat non-processed (pre consumer) nutrient dense food. For me that includes a lot of eggs, because I have my own chickens...

I don't drink a lot of alcohol, but when I do I make sure it's fruit based, not grain or synthetic. A glass of wine with dinner that kind of thing... The one rule I stick to, no matter what, is that

For every drink I drink, that is not water, I drink the same amount of water immediately after. (It's meant to be twice as much water, but that makes me pee to much) whether that drink is tea, coffee or alcohol
By the way, I still haven't seen any recipes, let me know tor favourite

I am going to attempt a shortcrust pastry today, made with almond flour. Hopefully later I can post a picture of my quiche 😃
It worked! So here's the recipe: 110gr almond flour, 25gr lard, 25gr butter whizzed together in the food processor until it looks like breadcrumbs the I added 2 tablespoons cold water and processed it slowly until it looked like a dough. I scraped it into a plastic bag and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes, 45 would have been better. I rolled it out between 2 sheets of baking paper and eased it into the tin. I pricked it all over with a fork and baked it at 190 C for 10 minutes. Then I brushed it with some beaten egg, and baked it for another 5 min. Then I filled it and baked it for a final 30 minutes- voila

For some reason i can't upload the pic, but it looked almost as good as it tasted!
I have tried the almond flour to make pizza crust, crackers, etc. It worked out pretty well, but I found I was gaining weight eating it. All nuts in general cause me to gain weight. I really don't feel there are that many restrictions on this diet. That may be because there are alot of things I don't eat anyway. I have a friend who will visit for 3 days at a time & she likes to drink beer & eat pizza. I always gain weight when she is here. I need to stay on my regular diet when she visits. I don't drink much beer usually. I have tried drinking wine, but I gain weight on it, as well. Vodka works better for me. I just add it to water & add some lemon or lime. The only problem is my reaction to vodka. Beer makes me happy. Wine makes me sleepy. Vodka can turn me into a *****. Weird.

Not sure if this is completely Paleo, but we've just started Micheal Mosley's Blood Sugar Diet. Its low /no carb, no sugar, high protein, high fat , no grains, loads of veg., not a lot of fruit cos of too much sugar.

Not too hard to follow ( My blood sugar was ok but DH was almost into the type2 diabetes range, and his waist line is way too big!)

But, I am missing rubbishy sweets, you know like wine gums, haribo ( I didn't know just how much I love them till I couldn't eat them ).

Funny I can take or leave pasta/bread/rice all that stuff, but sweeties, the minute I can't have them, the more I want them!! Isn't that just the way of things?
