Fruit Smoothie
Anybody have a fruit smoothie recipe? Also, does anybody know if Trader Joe's has bags of different kinds of frozen fruit?

This is not really a recipe but I throw in the blender the following ingredients:
1/2 cup plain non-fat yogurt
1 banana
1/2 cup orange juice (or skim milk if I don't have oj)
Some frozen fruit (I usually use strawberries or a tropical fruit mix or a mix of raspberries and blueberries)
This is pretty good. I use the orange juice because otherwise my husband doesn't think it is sweet enough. I guess you could just add sugar or sweetner though. I usually don't measure so those measurements are approximate.
I also love peanut butter smoothies. I use the same yogurt, banana and skim milk and add natural peanut butter. That is so good!

Thanks!! This looks yummy!! I'll have to give it a try. I've been craving them lately...I guess with warm weather finally here, plus wanting to be a little bit healthy (I am a junk food junkie!)....I think I am going to go to Trader Joes this weekend and see if I can find some good frozen fruit!! Thanks again!

Defintately frozen fruit for texture purposes.
Another twist is to use frozen yogurt or sherbert.

When I was in elementary school my mother was a member of some diet group that used to suggest 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup skim milk, and a little sweetener. I still drink this when I have the ingredients on hand. It's simple, healthy, and delicious and you can switch out the strawberries for other frozen fruits.

hockeymom, I bought 6 bags of frozen fruit at Trader Joe's last week. Strawberries, raspberries, and a mix of tropical fruits.

Gotta try the recipe with spinach
organic frozen strawberries and/or peaches from Trader Joes
a little OJ (1/2 cup)
1/2 or 1/3 banana (frozen is better)
scoop of Whey protein (Solgar Whey to Go is the absolute smoothest I've tasted)
sweetener (I use Equal and liquid Stevia)
A little nutmeg (fresh ground if you have it)
Optional a little Spirulina. It will turn it green but you can't taste it.
Blend, add a little water if too thick, blend again, and enjoy

Sounds like instant health -- How do you prepare the spinach to get it totally pureed/smoothed?
