Default can I alter this recipe?

I got a crock pot for christmas and I want to try one of the recipes from the cookbook it has cut up sweet potatoes in it along with chicken.

hubby really doesn't like SP so I was going to do regular ones instead.. is that okay?

Sure, use white potatoes. If you want added sweetness (that the sweet potatoes would have provided) how about using carrots? Or pineapple? Or peaches?
