Anyone gone to SALON VASO or Teri at THE STRAND Or Las Olas (Ouidad Cert) in South FL

I hear ya MirCurls. Actually, I've been trying to find a stylist I used to go to many years ago. I stopped using her (being young and stupid at the time, lol), but I used to hike to Pines from Miami to see her. Now that I moved to Pines, I've looked and think I found her again. So instead of the Las Olas salon, I made an appointment with her for Thursday. She didn't follow a specific program like Deva, etc. She just had curly hair and knew how to work with it. I have high hopes and will let you know how it goes!

Hi,

Just wanted to drop in and tell you I went to the stylist I mentioned and I'm really happy with the cut. I would definitely recommend her. I don't think she's familiar with cg and all that. She's more of a traditionally trained stylist who's really good with curly hair (she has curly hair herself).

If anyone's interested, her name is Michelle and she's at the Perfect 10 salon on University Drive, just north of Griffin Road. I found their website at www.perfect-ten-salon.com.
Thank you so much, CurlyTrvlr. Could you post a separate thread on her and her salon /city as a reference? I'd add it to the master-links post for SoFl, too.

Or if you already did that, can you post the thread link here so I can add it.

Thanks again.

I have been researching to which salon I should go for my first "curly cut" and have narrowed it down to Las Olas Beauty Salon and Salon Vaso. I know this thread is not new so I wanted to know if anyone has tried them recently.
I'm leaning towards Yulia in LOBS since everyone says how amazing her cuts are and I WANT something amazing for that first cut

I would love to hear about your cut where ever you went:-)
Hi Everyone!

Here goes my hair-cut journey...don't know where to go at this point... I don't want to pay a fortune for a super-cut hair cut, and if I pay a lot, I want the results I'm paying for! Seems like too much to ask in South Florida...

I've tried the "Deva cut" with Bertha from GBS, felt absolutely robbed. Probably shouldn't trust someone with very little hair. But it was one of those things, I researched, she was closest, and by the time you get there and see what the stylist does with their own hair its too late to walk out, you're already sitting in the chair and then that part of you wants to give them the benefit of doubt. So I did. I believe I paid over $100 for it. (I have very long hair). Maybe it just wasn't her day... but the "beautiful" as she claimed hair I came in with died on the floor that day.

Then, I tried Teri at strand...she was very nice, I think I paid about $40-50 very reasonable for a hair cut. Was I happy with the cut, eh. Not particularly. I didn't hate it which does say a lot, as cutting my hair is torture for me, as the haircuts tend to be average or horribly bad. So if you just need a cut, I think Teri is great.

I lived in NY for a couple of years, paid a small fortune at the Ouidad salon, and my hair did look healthier, but the cut itself left a lot to be desired (Especially for over $150! for a cut!)

I also lived in Gainesville and Kimba at the Aveda salon, was AMAZING. I've never had someone cut curly hair so well. After a while, she had left the salon and I don't know where she went, I sadly could never find her again, but she cut hair so well, I'd do a road trip just to have her cut my hair.

I have the 3a Curly Twirly type of hair, I need a stylist that can actually give my hair some shape, without giving me an afro, or making my hair straggly. I'm thinking of trying the Devand Aveda Salon at the Grove, apparently they have someone named Olivia that specializes in curly hair. Might try it out this week, unless someone can vouch for someone with real results!
Thanks for that recap of your local (and other) experiences. I"m still happy with Rachael at House of Hair in North Miami Beach (former Rachael and Jovan Salon).

Please do update as you experience other stylists. HOp you find your perfect pro.
