Cala Renee in Beverly, MA

has anyone gone recently ?? after a faithful two years going to John at Fringe (Salem, MA), i have decided to give Erin at Cala Renee (Beverly, MA) another try. i went to Erin for my very first curly dry cut in July 2008. she was a bit conservative, at my request, and i left the salon with a smile on my face. then i stumbled across Fringe and have been going there exclusively. however, the past 6 months i have been leaving the salon without a smile on my face. i believe it is due in part to miscommunication and the comfortableness of being a repeat client. in other words, the salon tries extra hard to impress you the first few times... but after repeat visits, i dont think they give their 100%. just my opinion. wish me luck !! if you've been to Erin recently, please let me know.

I do not have any input on Erin as my was cut by Cala and I was underwhelmed. But I do agree with you on Fringe. I went 4 times and the first 2 times I was very happy with John. The next 2 times not so much so the price and the drive were just not worth it for me. Make sure you let us know how your cut goes with Erin.

I'm actually thisclose to making an appointment with Erin. I have a friend that goes to her regularly, and she is thrilled with the services she receives. I'll probably check it out within the next few months.

curlymag I hope you get some good feedback I didn't like Erin at all. When I called to ask her to fix my haircut which I wasn't happy with, she got very defensive and said maybe my hair didn't "like" dry cutting. Well that's just pure BS because Fringe does dry cutting and my hair responds much better to dry cutting vs wet. I hope Cala listens to your needs. I think because she's the owner she'll be more receptive. She was very apologetic to me when I had a bad experience with Erin and offered to see me.

i will definitely provide feedback as soon as i get home from the salon. my two previous visits with John were wet cuts... i had been complaining about uneven layers and he said that my hair may not always benefit from dry cutting. although i was happy with the result, i still feel a need to try someone new. i hope Erin doesnt let me down.

I get my hair cut by Cala but Erin cut me once when Cala wasn't available and did a good job.
