...suggested to a salon that they should get either Deva or Ouidad training? the nearest salon to me with either is 2 hours away. There's an independent salon in my town that I'd like to suggest it to (of course mentioning that they'd be the only salon within over 100 miles that has the training), but I'm not sure if it's a salon faux pas.

TRYING to grow it out- maybe softer water and going almost strictly CG will help!

Well, I suspect that whether or not it would be a faux pas would depend on the ego of the stylist.

If the stylist is one who seems open to suggestion, appears to try to work with curls, and one who listens well, then I think it's worth a go.

Some stylists are really caught up in their own power, level of expertise, or skill set; seem to have difficulty understanding whose hair it is,;or think their way is the only way to "deal with" curly hair. I strongly suspect that those are not people who will be open to the suggestion.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, though.

I know this is an old post, but I really like how you put it, they get caught up by it, and really most at least the two i have been to, have difficulty understanding whose hair it is. Reason being, why I never went back. Search continues...

hair seems to be moody.
Does not seem to like oils
Does not like protein or too much?
Does not like rich products

So, I ask myself. What does it like? That is the question, and I'm on a mission.
