Which stylist to go to at Devachan, NYC?
Who is the best stylist at Devachan? And what is your curl type?
I am something of a 2b-3a (still trying to work it out), I think I have a mix of all 3, but predominantly 2c.
I am trying to work out which stylist to book in with. I hear a lot of love for Ana and am thinking about going to see her.
Who would you recommend and what is your hair type?
Oh, and yes, I know Carlos at Mario Daub is meant to be amazing, but I do want to try out the whole Devachan experience.

I'm bumping this thread. I have the same question. I'm thinking of setting up an appointment there for sometime this coming summer when I'm back East visiting my family. (Right now, I'm growing out a bad layered haircut, but I hope to have all of my layers filled in by this summer. I'll want a new, fresh cut that is done curl by curl.)
Who should we go see there, curlies? I know a lot of people on here have gone to the Devachan salon in NYC.
Is it possible to get Lorraine Massey herself?

Taren916 posted a YouTube video about her haircut with April at the Deva Salon in Soho. You can see the process and judge for yourself. The video was posted this week and I think the title is My Semi Big Chop.
I was super impressed with the shaping especially since Taren didn't have her hair styled afterwards so April didn't have a chance to go over the haircut again once it had been washed and styled.
Good luck with your search. Btw, Taren's curls seem to be a mix of 3s

I don't come to this board often, otherwise I would have posted sooner. I go to Devachan and I see Robert. I've been going to him for about 8 or 9 years and there's no one else that I trust with my hair. NO ONE!
I recommend him to everyone I know with curly hair. He's just wonderful and so talented. I've never once gotten a bad cut from him. He listens to what I want, even if I'm totally vague, he figures out what I want, asks me questions as he goes and in the end I walk out with a great cut that lasts me about 6 months before I have to go back.
I have an appointment with him this month and I can't WAIT! I'm so excited to see him, hang out with him, and to walk out with another great cut. He's worth every penny that I spend on the cut, the tip, the trip into the city....really, I can't say enough about him.
Oh I should mention that I have very thick, probably 3b hair that is long. I usually keep it between my shoulders and the middle of my back in the winter, and then closer up to my shoulders in the warmer months.
Good luck!

I went and had April as my stylist and she gave me an awesome cut. I'm a 3c/4a mix.

I'm also considering trying the salon. I have a mtg in NYC coming up so I thought I might book an appt for the same day.
Does it matter which NYC salon you go to? Do the stylists move back & forth?
Am also wondering if anyone can comment on the price of a cut from any of the people mentioned above (Robert, Ana, Sophie, April....)--I guess I can call & ask but that always makes me feel uncomfortable....
Thank you.

Bump. I'm curious about this too, for long 3b hair. Are the stylists/prices different in WP vs NYC?

Also interested. I think I read somewhere that a Junior Stylist is $85, no idea about Senior Stylists. I like my Deva stylist, but if it costs the same amount for a Jr. Stylist at Devachan as it does for someone who has taken a class, and the difference for me is train fare, well, it's probably worth a try.
