1st curly cut should I do Oiudad or Deva salon?

@thecurlgirl...Hello. I looked at your pics online Facebook. I didn't see any pics
of 4a textures, which is what I have.
Do you have any clients with this texture?

Sent from my HTC Glacier using CurlTalk App
i should have at least one or two pics up there, did you check through all of my albums? i do have a handful of girls with this texture. 4's do make up the smallest portion of my clientele, though!
i vote for deva, but wherever u go, the important thing is to have a clear idea about what you want and be assertive about what you want. if you go to ouidad and do not want your hair thinned with a carve and slice cut you need to be very clear and state the kind of cut you want and your goal for your hair. this requires some research and study on your part. whatever you do, be ready to walk away if they are doing something that makes you uncomfortable. dont be afraid to displease the stylist..assert yourself

What Should I Tell My Stylist?

this is a great thread with info from strutts wife and other stylists on how to deal with a new stylist and ask for the cut that will work best for you

I know this is a bit of an old thread by now, but I just wanted to update and say that I got the Ouidad cut!

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. Honestly, I can now see the benefits of the carving and slicing. The waves really do puzzle into each other nicely and my hair is springier, curls/waves up nicely and I can now get 2nd and 3rd day hair with no effort at all. It just has such a nice shape to it. I will say that my hair is fine and the stylist did not do an excessive amount of carving. If anything, my hair now looks fuller and doesn't get as weighed down as it did before.

Initially, there was a bit more length taken off than I wanted, because the underneath part of my hair is much straighter - so he cut the underneath layer shorter to avoid that straggly straight ends effect I had going on before. And to do that, more length needed to come off than I realized. But honestly, my hair looks much better at this length. It moves, and it has much more body.

And he even said, that I won't need to get it cut now for at least 6-9 months or even more. So that was good. It was pricey, but I won't have to get it cut for a while.

Overall, a very good experience. I saw Vincent at the NYC location.

Oh, one more thing....I did straighten it the other day to see how it would look, since I do that every few months or so. It still looked good. No unevenness that I had with the Deva cut when I tried to straighten. But I don't do it much anyway...too much work, lol.

Hope this helps anyone who may be on the fence.

Hair Type - medium to fine texture, high porosity, lots of it, type 2b/3a
My curls are uneven. One side of my head can be beautifully curly while the other is much straighter. But other days, like the picture I've attached, I have a good hair day. I use the same wide comb each day, the same amount of products, but my curls are inconsistent.

Also, if you take a close look at the picture, my ends are pretty dry. I've tried conditioning cleansers, sulfate-free shampoos, and always follow up with a conditioner, sometimes leaving some in to help with the frizz. I have to change products every few months as my hair stops responding to the products I am using. I am currently using Noodle Head styling cream and scrunching spray followed with Aussie's humidity spray (heaven sent for the humidity in NC).

Any information you can offer would be happily and gratefully used!
