Straightening hair before getting a cut?

I have about 3b hair and I want to just get a small trim. The problem is I live in Japan and in particular my city has no people with curly hair.

For such a small trim (2 inches), should I just try to flatten my hair out before I go in? Otherwise they will try to comb it dry and it will turn into a frizzy mess.

3a, 3b (corkscrew)
Texture: mostly medium except for some messed up parts on top which are coarse.
Porosity: High
Location: Israel
Haircut: I got my hair majorly thinned!!! Best thing I ever did!

Still looking for the perfect products! And trying to deal with hard water!
What part of Japan do you live in? I lived there for about three years and had a fabulous stylist in Ibaraki-ken. He spoke English and lived in LA for a while. He told me that a lot of Japanese have textured hair but they just straighten it. He cut my hair wet and did long layers for me but that was back when I liked getting my hair cut wet verses dry. I think you should ask around and find someone who has trained in either the US or Europe because they will have had more experience with curly hair. If you get it cut when it's straight, just make sure you are very specific about length so it doesn't get butchered. Maybe ask them to cut the ends and just clean up any splits in your layers rather than having them re-layer. I just worry about getting layers trimmed when your hair is straight- could look too choppy when it dries curly. I noticed they tend to do "square layers"- essentially cutting straight rows of layers into hair and that doesn't work for curlies.

If you are in Kansai (preferably Kyoto, Nara or Osaka) PM me. There is a hairdresser around here who is pretty good and cuts and styles a lot of the English speakers 'round here.
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.
