Just checking back in on this thread. As I mentioned previously, I used to travel to Madusalon in SF, then I found Susan in Lincoln. She never did wash and dry my hair, just cut and go, but I always got good Deva Cuts with her and it was quite a bit cheaper. She's really quite the artist and takes a long time to do the cut each time you go back.
I've moved away from Lincoln, so I've now been going to Kara at Studio K in Davis. She does the whole Deva Cut process, dry cut, shampoo, etc., so of course, more expensive than Susan. She does a really good job and I've been very happy.
Would like to hear more about Tori as that salon is very close to me now!
Just thought I would share.... been getting Deva cuts for over 6 years now and I've really been very happy with all of them!
Sometimes I go longer and sometimes I get it cut shorter. I guess I've been lucky or just have hair that really takes to the Deva cut!
ps. Curlyhairfedup: usually when they say don't shampoo every day, they mean don't use shampoo. You can still rinse and condition everyday... also, for 2nd and 3rd day hair, a lot of us pull our hair up in a pineapple or something like that so it stays put and doesn't get messed up, you could try that...
I went to Tori back in September 2012 trying to find a stylist here since my move from Portland and was quite displeased with my haircut. She is very sweet and has curly hair herself, but doesn't really do a Deva Cut. It is more of a pull and trim sort of approach which resulted in a disaster for my hair. I had been trying to grow it out and told her to be very careful with the length especially in the top layer that tends to curl and shrink more; after my cut, I was left with chunks of hair that had shrunk from chin-level to eyebrow level and it was just a shapeless poof. My best haircuts have not necessarily been from Deva stylists; they have always been dry, but by someone who understands my curl pattern. I recently tried Beverly in Sacramento and she has rescued my hair. She doesn't do a Deva cut, but has a wonderful eye and takes her time and really observes what your hair does.
I know this thread is kinda old, but I am looking for a new stylist in Sacramento and wondering if you guys had any reviews for Tori.
There is also a salon in Roseville, CA that has a Deva stylist, but I can't find anything on her either.
I currently DO go to Susan, but it's just too far, I am in Folsom, CA so it's quite the drive just for a hair cut.
There is a deva stylist in Roseville.
I think her name is Gail.
She was a total no for me! Straightens her own curly hair. ( What do we say about curly stylists who straighten their own hair?)
She didn't listen to a word I said either.
Went home and cut it myself after pay $60.
Might be good with others but sure wasn't with me!
