Question Sacramento CA Deva Stylist Tori Mederios-Victoria James Salon

I was wondering if anyone has tried the stylist Tori Medeiros at Victoria James Salon in Sacramento off of American River Drive? I found her listed as a Deva curl stylist but I can find no reviews of her when I do a google search. Has anyone tried her out? Anyone know of the salon?

I hope somebody responds to this because I am in Sacto, too, and would love to find a good curly stylist. I'll keep an eye on this thread!

Default Deva Stylist Tori Mederios-Victoria James Salon

I'm a Deva girl. I've been driving to MadhuSalon in San Francisco for 3 yrs for my Deva cut. I am also looking for a local place certified to do the cut here in Sac. I just called Tori Mederios of Victoria James Salon here in Sacramento. Since I'm already familiar with the process I know what questions to ask. She seems knowledgeable and also stated she is a curly girl herself. I'm going to bite the bullet and step out of my comfort zone and give her a try. I'll update this post with the results after my appointment. Fingers crossed!

I used to drive to MaduSalon in SF also a few years back. I was so glad I didn't have to any more when I finally found a Deva stylist is the area a couple of years ago. I've been going to Susan at "At Last Salon & Spa" in Lincoln, CA. She's been the only Deva trained and certified stylist in the Sacramento area and I've been very happy with all of my cuts with her.

Nice to hear there is now another Deva trained stylist in the area. Can't wait to hear how you it goes! Please update when you can. :-)

I'm in Sac too! Looks like we're all looking for the holy grail stylist. Please let us know how the appointment went with Tori. Also, I've heard great things about MaduSalon. Which stylist worked best for you? Share!

I'm going to give Susan a try and see how it works out. I will post back after my appointment, which is in about 2 weeks for a DevaCut.

Keeping my fingers crossed........

Another Sac curly here! I hope the cut goes well curlyhairfedup. I'm curious what the pricing is like.

Default price

sew and sew.. 65.00 excluding tip etc. Said no prep of hair is necessary while another DevaCurl stylist said it was with an extra 20.00 cost for prep.

I'll update again after my hair is DevaCut...

Right now my hair is big big big without any DevaCurl products in it.

Default Deva Cut

Ok... so my hair wasn't cut like one sees in the videos.. it was more like my hair has been cut before. I have a lot of hair so maybe that's why Tori didn't cut my hair like you see in the videos.

2 hours later with Deva Curl products in my hair, it's still slightly damp but I like the way she styled my hair and it's less big so that's a good thing.

Part of the spent at the salon required a seat under the dryer to help move things along and then she brings in the diffuser about 30 min after being under the dryer.

I'll know better tomorrow after I do my own hair if I'll go back.

Tori is very nice and she owns the shop. It's a two station salon with one shampoo bowl between the two stylists.

I'll post pictures later of before and after.

Overall, I'm happy with the cut and style.. which says a lot because so far I haven't been happy with the cuts or styles I have so far with my hair.

do you get the full Deva treatment from At Last Salon? I went there one about two years ago and all she did was cut my dry curls and send me home. No wash, no products, no styling. That was not the Deva Treatment I have come to expect. Not to mention I was not happy with the cut once I washed and styled it myself. Two thumbs down from me.

I didn't go there because I found a Deva Certified Salon in Sacramento.

To be honest, I don't think the Deva Cut is as brilliant as the Deva Curl products. They make the difference in the hair. I've had my hair cut many times and I really didn't notice a difference in how she cut my hair. It wasn't like in the videos on YouTube, but then again, I don't have tight or ringlet type curls.

My hair was cut dry and I was initially worried because I have big hair and after she cut it. my hair was still big. She then cut in some layering. I never hung my head upside down or sides for her to cut my hair.

2 hours later and 136.00 later (includes cut, wash, style, products and tip) I walked out with slightly damp hair (which isn't unusal for my hair).

She also told me to stop washing my hair everyday. I don't know I can do that, but I'm going to try and not shampoo my hair tomorrow and see what happens.

I've found both the cut and products to make a differnce for me. I have curly ringlets and the Deva Cut should be done at an angle for every snip, the ends of each curl should look like a corkscrew with a point, not a flat tip/edge.
I just found out a friend of a friend is headed Tori's way in the next couple of weeks and I may pop in to see first hand how her technique is.
Thanks so much for updating me and enjoy your curls.

Thanks for the info curlyhairfedup! I'm going to keep Tori in mind. I hope you enjoy the cut more as you get used to it.

Well, as the afternoon/evening moves along, I'm finding my hair is still swarming my face. When I lean over all I can see is hair so I'm going to have to go back to Tori and see what else she can do for my hair.

Default day one of not washing hair

Well what a mess it was. .knots abound and I could easily move into dreadlocks if I went another couple of days with no washing so I'm going back to every day washing. Does anyone else have big hair with this issue? I'm thinking I don't like the curly look so much now.

Just found this older thread. How's it been going with either Tori or Susan anyone? I just moved here 4 months ago and went to Susan about a month ago. WAY different than my deva salon in Salt Lake City, Utah. In Utah, I was trimmed dry first and then washed, styling product and diffuse dry and then if needed some more trimming. All for 65.00 on average minus tip.
Susan charged 65.00 for just a trim. She made sure I had my hair DONE before I came in and I wondered why. Well, she doesn't wash or style UNLESS you want her to and then it's 20.00 MORE. I find that ridiculous. The trim she did was nice and I was happy with it. So that was good.
I was wondering about Tori in Sac. I read in the above post that the one lady's bill was 136.00??!! Did you buy extras?? Or was that the cut and style?

I am going to see Susan on Saturday. I have been to her a couple time and she always leaves my hair gorgeous looking and charges about $65 a cut. I am going to cut off about 12 inches this time so I have a feeling she may charge me the extra $20 from what other ppl have mentioned because she is going to have to do my hair once she makes the big chop! Hope my curl pattern doesn't freak out with my hair being so short! Wish me luck....
