Default Oasis Salon - Rockville, MD

Would like to get a Deva cut here, and I see great reviews for owner Wafaya, as well as stylists Mimi and Yolanda. Am wondering if anyone can offer any insight or comments about these three ladies?

I'm especially interested in knowing if any of them are actually curlies themselves? I just find I get better cuts (and especially better styling) from stylists who deal with their own curls on a daily basis.

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

TIA!

Hi there! I actually got my hair cut there by Catherine..she was very good, very knowledgeable and knew the DevaCurl way..my hair is about a 2C I think with maybe 3a...wavy on top and spirals mid to bottom of my hair..she cut it dry then washed with only DevaCurl NoPoo & One C and Angell...she even used papertowels to scrunch a little water out..she was awesome! It's pricey but worth it...everyone there seemed and was curly themselves and knew the Deva way...I think you'd really like them..good luck and let us know what you decide!

Hi Froggette,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience there--so glad it was a good one.

I've had Deva cuts at about 8 different salons, with mixed results, and am still looking for that "perfect" place. Sounds like this could be the one, and I'm encouraged to hear that the stylists are curly themselves.

Will post my experience as well!

I have been thinking about going here too. It's the only salon I know about in the area that specializes in curly hair. I'd love to hear if you end up going and how your experience was!

Hi curly01,

Sure thing, I'll post about it. I probably won't go until the beginning of August though.

Still haven't decided who to book--too many good reviews, but I guess that's a good problem

Just wondering if you ended up getting a deva cut at Oasis, and if so who was your stylist and how did it go?!
Thanks.

Hi,

I had booked an appt with Mimi (Catherine and Yolanda are no longer there), but had to cancel it and haven't rescheduled.

If I do, I'll definitely let you know!

Yeah, I just recently came across her salon and the fact that she used to work at Oasis. Has she cut your hair?

Did you like the way your deva cut grew out? Was it easy to manage and style once you did it yourself at home?

Yes, she gave me my first Deva cut at Oasis in '09. She has trimmed my hair ever since. I try to get a trim every 4-6 months when I notice my ends getting raggedy. I've tried trimming my hair myself in the past and during Catherine's absence, but it just wasn't the same.

After all the feedback, I'm really thinking about booking an appointment at Oasis. Any recommendations for stylists that are still there?

Default Where Is Catherine (who used to be @ Oasis, Rockville?)

I went to Wafaya, Mimi, & Catherine when she was @ Oasis, & by far, Catherine was the best (IMHO). I was so disappointed she left, but when I called they toldme she went back to Africa! From reading posts, seems she's still here, but website some members posted, not a salon. ANY info. About address/phone # of where she's @ now, SO much appreciated. baf/
