I'm looking for a good place in Philly where I can get my curls cut in a nice shape for when o wear my hair out. Right now I am rocking the big ball an I want a nice shape to it. Please help!!!! Oh and somewhere that I won't have to pay arm and a leg.

Not sure where you are in Philly but if you don't mind crossing Tacony Bridge, Alexis at The Cut is awesome! She does the DevaCut too, if you were interested. She is very much about hair care and reasonable with pricing. I left a review in the salon area as well. The Cut is in Pennsauken, NJ.

Not sure where you are, as above poster said. I've gone to Thom, who is now at Millennium in Wynnewood. He's isn't cheap, but does great cut and color work. I've gone to him for 30 years and have never gotten bad cut or color--used to get my hair cut every five, and now six, weeks. That's a lot of hair cuts, LOL! He also cuts my straight haired aunt and does a beautiful job. We're both often stopped when out to find out who does our hair. I drive from Bucks County, if that gives you a clue how good he is. And yes, he does a lot of ladies with "natural hair."

I love Duafe in N. Philly. The stylist's name is Nafeesah, she did my BC was very knowledgable. I really lov ethey make alot of their own products. If all your getting is a cut its $35. Another place is Naturally Ever After in W. Philly near 60th and Vine I think. I send my G-mom there to get her hair done and she likes them. Good Luck!

What part of Philly you live in? I have been to tons of salons in Philly & most are pretty good. The natural salons are a bit harder to judge. Sometimes it really does boil down to "you get what you pay for."

I really late but... I'm going to look into these places. I have been getting my hair blown out every two weeks for the last month and a half an it's growing really fast. Before eat initial blow out I do a deep treatment with shea moisture ad I TRY not to put anymore heat in it until the next blow out. So far so good.

@ inimitable do these places do press n curl? $$? I haven't used any heat in my hair in over a year and scared to start doing it myself again. This wouldn't be an on going thing just for special occasions.

I am not 100% sure if Duafe does the press & curl or blow out styles. i dont see why they wouldnt. I know for a fact that Naturally Ever After does. i cant remember how much they charge though. here is the # (215) 471-3337

I think I'm going to make an appointment at naturally ever after this week. I looked at their Facebook page and they only show straightened hair. I want to have my BC done there (there's only about 2 inches of relaxed hair left) and want it styled curly.

For a BC, I would try duafe first. Only because they do that kinda stuff regualrly and Nafessah will style it curly for you. It will be whatever your natural curl pattern is though. To be honest, i dont think my hair has ever been as curly and defined as it was the first day when she did it and I am 6 months in....
