AMAZING EXPERIENCE in Long Beach
I just had my hair transformed into movie star hair. A friend recommended stylist Richie Roman to me a while back and I read reviews on him but when I finally called he had moved out of state. The same friend, Cheryl, told me he was back so I made my appointment and took my friend with me for support since I've had so many bad cut experiences. WOW! This guy knows curly hair. Its like he speaks the language. From the moment I sat down it was tip after tip after tip. Before he even began cutting he showed me a few fun options to wear my hair up for work and the gym that wouldn't ruin the curls for the rest of the day. He cut myhair dry, which after reading on here for a while wasn't such a shock. What was a shock was how little he took off yet I have new hair. He showed me step by step how to do it myself in 20 minutes. MY HAIR LOOKS AND FEELS AMAZING. It takes me less than 15 min in the morning sind I air dry and 4 fellow teachers at my school have booked appts with him after seeing the new improved me. I love him and can't wait to go back for color next time. I don't have the number to the salon on me but its on broadway in long beach called spa sidney beauty. I just had to share this new found treasure. Yolanda

I am going to take a cute pic and post it. He charges 75 for the cut and style lesson. Well worth it. I've paid 150 for cuts that have left me in tears. One of my students parents even noticed and complimented me. Turns out she sees Richie as well. We had a big laugh when we tried to give eachother our "guys" number.

Okay all you happy curlies, help a fellow curly out. I have tried the phone # under the salon tab for Richie but it is not correct or current. Anyone care to share? I am up for a good cut and would like to see if I can add positive feedback along with all the rest of you happy folks.

I called on Saturday to make an appt, he was with another client so the guy asked for my number for Richie to call me back but he never did. Should I try calling again? I have a Xmas party to attend on 12/17 and I'm afraid he will be booked.

An FYI to anyone who needs more contact info. Richie Roman makes appointments via his email account also. That address is colormerichie@gmail.com . The phone # he emailed me was 562-335-5393. More info the better. Maybe we will all be happy happy soon. Happy holidays to all and the best New Year ever.

I tried to upload the one pic I had. The other pics of my hair was too close. I will be returning to allow Richie to color in my hair.
I learned that Richie does his own appts so the info OC provided is correct.

Mimi, your hair looks so good!
I just cut my hair in September, so it's not due yet, but I want to go to Richie. Long Beach is about 90 or so minutes away, I'm in Ventura county, but for my hair, I'm willing to drive. I have a good Deva stylist, but for my last cut I went to an associate of hers because she took time off to get married. The associate has better ratings on here and online than my stylist, but I didn't care for her as much. She didn't listen to what I told her I did to style my hair, so the cut was ok, but the styling job was horrid, by the time I got home, it looked like nothing had been done to my hair. My flatmate actually said to me, "I thought you got your hair done?" Kind of embarassing.
I want someone who can do my hair and make me feel special about it. I don't want to pay $150 and not feel special. I want someone who actually listens to me. I am so tired of stylists who don't listen to me. I have had 2 in a row now who don't listen to me at all when I describe what my hair type is, and how it behaves. I know they're the "experts," but don't I know better than anyone my own hair?
I'm really encouraged to hear about these experiences with a new stylist who might actually the southern CA guru of curls!! And at a price that is actually affordable enough that I can go to him!! Maybe I can get color, too!
