I just moved from Boston to Laguna Hills, CA (Orange County) and am in dire need of a good haircut. Any stylist recommendations who are good at cutting curly hair (3a) would be greatly appreciated. Can't afford Ouidad or Deva cuts, though.
You can go to the home page of naturallycurly.com and on the top it will have a box that says salons, click that and type in your info. I found a awesome awesome awesome stylist in Bakersfield ( near where I live) it's about a 2 hour drive for you but trust me she's WORTH the drive
Thank you. I will try that.
I checked the site for recommendations, and they are all very pricey salons. Does anyone know of a curly stylist in the Orange County area that doesn't charge big money, say $75 or under? Most grateful, thanks!! If I have to travel a bit further I can do that.
I recently tried Joanne Kim at AG salon in Irvine on Sandcanyon. I think the $ there is either $65 or $75. Joanne did agood job but does not do a dry deva cut which was fine with me. I am over that cuz of the cost. Joanne has wavy hair herself so she can relate to the ins and outs of curly hair. I am going to go back and do recommend u give her a call and at least go by and have her give u an opinion. If that doesn't work for try Curls on Top for $$$$$
Ps I grew up a a little girl in Chestnut Hill
Sorry shopbop, just found the business card for AG Lounge. The # is

Is a 100$ really that much better then a $50 or even $25 cut??

Really? Chestnut Hill? I grew up in Newton! I went to Joanne at AG Lounge for Hair and wasn't over the top w/the cut, but will go back to her. I will tell her I want longer layers, and see if it's better. Thanks!!
Sorry you weren't over the top with Joanne. See did the job for me but nothing special. I have been thinking about going back to my old hair care specialist , before curly girl, and just using my products.
As for the Boston talk, my mom was born in Newton, small world.
Hope you get settled into your hair care go to person.
It is a small world!! Am missing the foliage right now in Boston. Nothing like it!! Am thinking of making an app't w/Joanne @ AG Lounge again. I need a cut very soon. Am also looking for a gel to help define my curls, but don't want to spend $22 on Ouidad's. What do you use?
Fall is the best time of year. Haven't lived it in a long long time but it's a memory that will always be with me.
Now back to wavy hair. I have been thru many changes with products like most folks on this site. Currently after wash and conditioner I use AG recoil, turn my head over and wrap with a flour sac towel for about 15 minutes. I take that of and then make my part and then spray AG curl trigger. Scrunch and then use a diffuser to dry. I haven't been using any gel the past month or so and it's been working out. For day 2-4 hair I do the no-no and comb with either a big pick or wide tooth comb and then I spritz with TRESemme Fresh Start refreshing mist and follow that with a little bit of Shea Moisture Hold & Shine Moisture Mist. I seem to have a lot less build up cuz there is no gel on my hair. I am sure this will once again change so I still have my Queen Helene royal curl curl shaping creme or my Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Curl Scrinching Gel. When using these I always added a wee bit of Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee. Now that I have totally confused the issue I wish you luck. Sometimes I wish there weren't so many choices.
Forgot....... I dilute the Tresseme spray 50/50 with water.
