What's the worst thing a hair dresser has done to your hair?
One time a stylist thinned my hair without telling me, brushed it straight and put me under the hood dryer...it didn't turn out good
Two weeks before my wedding, I had a hair dresser "slither" my hair. It was bad, really bad. I went to a different salon to get it fixed as much as possible before the wedding. But a lot of damage was done. This was 19 years ago, and I was a lot curlier back then.

Slithering was basically sliding the scissors down the length of random sections of my hair. Here is an explanation. It may work for some, but it was a disaster for my hair. I didn't request him to thin out my hair, but I guess he thought it was too poofy.........Techniques for hair pointing, hair slithering and point cutting

Everything was going well with the new stylist until she started shearing my hair! She didn't say anything until she saw my eyes were as big as saucers...and only then it was something about how thick my hair was/it needing to lose some weight? No one in the entire salon had a diffuser so she put me under a hooded dryer. That was two months ago and my hair's still trying to recover.

I took my 11 year old in for a "trim". The hairdresser used thinning shears on her poor hair. It's an un-even mess now.
I feel horrible and want to give my daugther some guidance and encouragement for getting through this.

How long did it take for your hair to recover from the thinning shears?
Where do I start lol .... being asked constantly do I straighten my hair and if I considered straightening it I find offensive, once a hairdresser straightened my hair without telling me and when I asked why told me she needed to so she could see if it was cut properly
Another annoying thing is one hairdresser blowdried my hair without a diffuser and left it even more dry and fizzy than it wad before I went in which took some effort

Asking me why I don't straighten it, offering to straighten it, then chopping into it and not really doing what I asked. I would often end up with the dreaded triangle shape and would have to keep getting it trimmed every month or so. It got expensive, I was frustrated. Taking too much off and causing my hair to be uneven (which is bad because my curls are uneven naturally as some curls are tighter than others).

What is it with hairdressers and always wanting to straighten hair?
My poor best friend has 2c fine hair. She went for an inch off and a little more movement tonight and came out a good 3 inches shorter with uber über hacked in layers then the stylist back combed this awful bump in the back of the crown. Omg. So bad. I rushed over after work and she washed it and I styled it wavy. It is ok but just omg way too short and layered. I feel so bad for her.
2a medium porous, You can see my wavy tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...ZNxhBHSXAW40OQ and my wavy blog is The Wavy Nation http://wavynation.wordpress.com

I haven't been to a hair dresser since I was bald (over a year ago) and now I'm really scared to find one lol

My husband calls it "magic hair" because it changes shade based on the light. Why would she think I would need to color or highlight my hair?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Oh wait...let me edit that. When I was a teenager and I had long, one-length hair a friend who was several years older cut my hair which turned out pretty good except for one big cut all across the back of my head that didn't match anything else. Kind of like a "shelf" in my hair. Seems like it took FOREVER to grow that out. LOL She was going to try to layer my hair but couldn't figure it out after creating that "shelft" thing.

I'm definitely a "curly" 2c. Sometimes curly and sometimes just wavy upper layer with a ringlety under layer. My hair has been thick and coarse since birth. Strawberry blonde in color that can and does change depending on the type and amount of light.

All in all, I'm happy with my hair type but almost for sure think yours is prettier.

I stopped dying my hair when I shaved it, I never liked my natural color until I let it grow and then I discovered I have like 4 different colors in my hair, blonde, light brown, very light ash and dark brown, I never really appreciated my natural color or curls until I lost my hair, now I will never dye it again, as for finding a stylist I wish it was as easy as just not going ever again but I suck at cutting hair. I live in a rural area so I don't have many options, I've been told I should try an ethnic salon because every white or asian owned salon around here doesn't give a crap about curls, but I've also heard that the black owned salons will pressure you to get a relaxer or fake hair, I have no idea where to start looking now
