OK, this one is better since you can see the overall shape of the cut. (I can't figure out how to delete the one with the flash, so sorry about having so many photos!)

Your hair looks great Leanne. Thanks for posting pics. I finally got Jenn on the phone but with her location and the fact that she doesn't work Saturdays, it's probably not the right fit for me.
I found someone via the Deva Curl Facebook page who is in Alpine....more convenient for me. I'm going to get a trim with her and see how it goes.

I'm a former client of Beverly Neeland and looking for a new stylist. Many of you like Jennifer Sparano and I might try her, but have any of you heard of or tried Kendall Suniga (Revive Salon)?

I am in the same boat. I wasn't thrilled with the cut Jen gave me, but might go back now that Beverly has left. I've never heard of Kendall Suniga, but please let us know if you try her.

Even though Jen gave me a fantastic cut, I wanted to find someone a bit closer to where I live since I'm in North County, so, two weekends ago, I tried out Angela Rowe in Carlsbad. I wanted to go to a mahogany red with the color, and I just love how it turned out!
Angela's Deva cuts are $55, and her color costs are comparable to other salons I've been to. She is an absolute sweetheart, too! At this point, I've been to Suzanne K., Vickie V. at Curls on Top, and Jen S., and, even though Angela hasn't been doing Deva cuts as long as the others, the cut I got from her is just as good as the ones I've gotten from the other stylists. I definitely recommend her!
The salon is located in Carlsbad Village, and there is ample street parking. Here is Angela's info:
Angela Rowe - Hair Stylist | Carlsbad, CA
I'll post some photos if anyone is interested.

New Diva stylist in North County
Hi Leanne! I would love to see your pics and hear more about your experience with Angela. So great to hear we have someone that is Diva trained in North County! You mentioned you have been to Vicki at Curls on Top. I have too. I thought she was good but don't have a lot to compare to for other curly hairstylists because for the past 12 years I was getting my haircut by a stylist that always blew it dry and I always thought my curls just looked messy and very unshaply when I tried to wear it curly. I finally started doing my research and got on board the curly lifestyle and was introduced to the Diva line of products, which work really well for me and my hair started looking a lot better just from that, and from there it was a natural graduation to get my hair cut from a Diva stylist. I did think Vicki was good, however I didn't think she cut each curl individual as I expected. She sort of dry brushed sections with her fingers and then cut the ends so I had more layers and shaping in it. I'm growing it out so she didn't take off much. They they did the deva 3 step, lots of clips and put me under the dryer and then scrunched, It looks good, but not that much different. What was Angela's technique? I would love to go to someone closer and a lot less expensive if I can get the same results!

Hi, CurlsForMe!
I'll try to get some photos posted this weekend after I wash it!
It's funny how you described how Vickie cut your hair since that was exactly how she cut mine, too. I had been expecting her to do more of the individual cutting of each curl, but she did what seemed like more of a traditional cut in that she cut more clumps at one time.
Angela did more of a curl-by-curl cut. It's funny, too, because I showed up early and was chatting to a young woman who was waiting for her mom to finish up with Angela. They both had beautiful curls, and the daughter said that they had gone to Vickie, but found Angela a few months ago and liked her cuts just as much as Vickie's.
If you're growing your hair out and don't need much cut off, then I'd say to definitely try Angela! I'm growing mine out, too, and was really nervous about making sure that she kept the length, but she did exactly what I wanted. She also really shaped up the front area and gave me some layers, which really cleaned up how my hair looked since it was starting to get really straggly in the front. Before cutting the layers, she asked for my input and explained how much/where she'd be cutting, which I really appreciated.
All in all, I'm so pleased to have found a new stylist who is relatively inexpensive and so close to home!

I'm so thrilled I came upon your post. I would love not to have to carve an entire half day to drive up and back for a haircut, even if it's only a few times a year. Plus less money for a cut sure will help these days! Can't wait to see your pics!

CurlsForMe, I know what you mean! I love having my hair done, but hate having to drive a long ways since the appointment itself always takes so long as it is! (I have to color since I have a lot of grey.)
Here are some pix that I just took. I just got done drying it, so not all the scrunch is out. My camera is also having a really hard time picking up the red color, but I think it's sort of coming through in these pix.
Also, I forgot to mention that Angela didn't clip me at all, but that may be because the hair photos I brought in all had straight tops/bangs. If anyone decides to see her and needs help clipping, I'd be sure to ask.

Wow! Leanne your hair looks fabulous!! Gorgeous color and it looks so healthy and beautiful!!
What product line did Angela use? I see you don't use Deva and curious if that is what she used on you at the salon.

Thanks, CurlsForMe!
Angela does use Deva products, and used them on me. The week before I got my hair done with her, I bought the No Poo, One C, and AnGel, so I need to update my signature line since I've been using those products a bit more the last few weeks. In the photo, I used No Poo and One C to cleanse and condition, followed by AG ReCoil and Granier Pure Clean Gel as my stylers. I always get consistently good waves with ReCoil! It's one of my HG products for sure!
I'm still on the fence about the Deva products. I use the B'Leave In and new Foam every now and again, but they don't work as well for me as other styling products.

Beverly Neeland is back in San Diego
Just wanted to give a shout out for Beverly. She'll be back in San Diego, permanently, mid-February.
[Note: Check out her online scheduling tool. I used it for my Sacramento appointment; and it worked really well.]

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted, but I just got such a fabulous trim from Gloria at Salon Hermosa in San Diego so I wanted to post.
I went in with my hair clean and styled the way I like to wear it and she cut it dry. It looks so awesome and didn't take too long. $25 and I picked up a DermOrganic product, too (love their line) but Gloria never, ever pushes her products which is so refreshing.
I came home and my husband didn't even notice it got cut because it didn't look shorter, but he just said it looked like a great hair day.
I have found some other good stylists in different parts of the country in the past, but Gloria is the only one who can manage to trim it and not have it look noticeably shorter. Such a gift!!

Your hair looks gorgeous LeanneM! I'm planning to be in Carlsbad for a week next month & am thinking of having Angela cut my hair. It will be my first Deva cut. Are you still happy with your cut now that its been a couple of months?

Thanks, Swaves! I'm sorry that I missed this post -- for some reason, my notification emails aren't getting to me! I'm glad I saw your PM!
I've been to Angela twice now, and am still really pleased! Last time, she didn't cut it (I'm trying to grow it out) and only needed to touch up the roots; the red color on the rest of the hair is still pretty vibrant. She's a great alternative for those who live in North County! I have my next appt. with her in mid-April, and can post more pics then if anyone would like me to.
