Hey, Bekka and all! Just wanted to bump this one up a bit for the locals.
I'm still happy with my standard wet cuts from Rachael and Jovan in Skylake (Rachael does me). I was happy with Teri at Pinecrest, too, but too long a drive. This one's down the street.
Nice to know your stylist is salon available now. Hurray for curlies.
Happy spring, ladies!

Glad you bumped this. Since going curly I've tried 2 different stylists but I am still looking. They weren't bad per se but just don't know enough about curly hair. Had to walk out with wet, frizzy poofy head. One of them actually loves curly hair and was interested in CG, products, dry cuts etc but said 99% of his clients want straight hair!
Hard to believe that in south Florida with so many people from the Caribbean, there are so few curly stylists.

I agree with this! My stylist of 5 years gave me a layered cut when I started wearing my curls a few weeks ago. It looks ok, but not as great as I think it could look with a true curly cut. Good thing is, he was familiar with CG and wasn't freaked that I wanted no shampoo in my hair. I won't cheat on him unless I find a real curly expert in this area!

My stylist friend is no longer at the VIP Salon.. she still does hair, so if anyone wants to get in touch with her just PM me.

I just went to Curls Rock in Boca Raton for the first time on Friday. I cannot say enough positive things about it. Katrina cut my hair. I have long hair, and this was the first time I have had it cut dry. Anushka colored my hair with a brand of color that is all natural--I can't remember the name of it--but it looks awesome. Both of these women listened to what I wanted, and did an incredible job. I am thrilled with the results! I have been to Las Olas Beauty and had the Quidad cut, that looked good, but this is seriously 10 times better. The woman who did my cut at LOB left the salon, which is what led me to searching for a new place. Now I am glad she left so I could find Curls Rock!! Katrina did all the things I do at home--she made my hair soaking wet when she put product in, she didn't use a towel to dry it, and she told me what she was doing and why.

Transitioning
I was wondering did you ever make it to the salon? Is there someone that can recommend someone that will teach me what to do with my hair?

Natural Stylists in South FL
Hi all,
I just joined the group after searching online for natural salons in the Miami area. I've been going to a place near my job in Plantation but lately, I have been bored w/ the styles I've been getting and my stylist works solo and her appt book fills up quick, soo it is definitely time for me to move on and find someone closer to home. Does anyone know of any good natural salons in Miami that they would recommend? Please HELP!

Just curious as to whether anyone has been to a salon called A Kinky Thing in Miami. I believe it is on Biscayne. I looked at the services they offer on their website and they seemed appealing.

Hey
Hi, I know this is a VERY old message to be responding to, but I've been looking for this hairstylist Melonnie because I've read the forum, and I've heard nothing but great news about her. My 4C hair needs a desperate trim and I'm too afraid to attempt it myself. I was wondering if there's some kind of address you can give me or a phone number? I live in Lauderdale Lakes, so I'm sure she can't be too far. Much appreciation thanks

Hey yes. I'm thinking about that now. I never did get the number. I'm about to make an appt at ADU Salon but idk. Need a trim so bad, the shape has grown out but I'm dealing with ssk and tangles plus split ends. After my horrible cut at average institute in '08 or '09 no ones cut my hair.

Sorry to reply to an old thread but my hair is in desperate need for a cut! I just moved from Seattle to S. FL (Plantation). Anyone in the area have a current stylist that they love? My hair is fine and 3a/b. Curls Rock in Boca looks/sounds great but I'd love to shop around a little bit. Not to mention that I was getting amazing cuts from a local gal in Seattle for under $45. My husband may think I am out of my mind for spending much more than that

Good confidence starts with the hair, so whatever it costs(up to $100 a month) to look presentable and feel good about yourself is worth it!
