I have really dense, coarse hair. Volume is not an issue for me! I guess it's a tie between curl and length. I've had my hair in a very short cut for so many years (~1-2" long), I wanted a change.

Melanie, I think a couple of things would help your daughter. One is to use a leave-in conditioner of some kind. The other is to sleep in braids. That keeps the hair detangled during the night.

I haven't tried that oil, but I have some leftover body massage oil that I've been using on my hair successfully. It has jojoba and citrus oils in it.
I think Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicone.

Yes, and sometimes I even use it as a leave-in. It smells good. My hair is very thick and coarse, but likes some protein as long as I don't do it too often.
