For me, the trick is making sure my hair is dry before going to bed. I've found that applying styling products after I've soaked up some water (using my "hair only" pillowcase:) ) works best for me....

Oh no, my stylist cuts the straight hair so it falls to the same length as my curls. Unfortunately, that portion is thick enough that it doesn't always hide under my curls.:/

Just to make sure I understand, high porosity means your hair doesn't absorb products easily? Thus, someone with high porosity hair can/should use heavier conditioners and stronger hold styling...
