Have you trimmed in a while? I was thinking maybe you could use a little trim too to help you retain length...they may be splitting and thats why you arent retaining well.

I agree with the above, I just figured out you really dont have to detangle with a comb every time you wash. I very lightly finger detangle any obviously tangled hair as I apply leave in/product.

I have very dry hair too that is also a dull, dusty brown color lol. Have you tried Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie? My hair loves that stuff as a moisturizer.
