My hair is type 2b, but this may work for yours too. My best go-to product right now is tresseme flawless curls. It de-frizzes and holds curls without being overly sticky or stiff.

I use the cheaper stuff too, and I always have pretty good luck with the moisture milks. Your other safe and cheap bet is suave's almond oil shampoo/conditioner. It smells so good and smoothes a lot...
