Have you tried doing a moisturizing treatment w/ heat? That should help a bit. I would be extra careful not to use any protein while your waiting for your hair to recover.

You'd only have to do the clarifying/deep treatment once, right before you start shampoo-less. I don't use any drugstore deep treatments, so I can't recommend one, sorry.

I do a full CO wash (scalp and length) once a week and a scalp only CO wash 1-2x a week. I do an acv rinse weekly, usually when I do the full CO wash.
It's really all about trial and error....

I've used the Sugar Beet and the Volumizing one. Neither were moisturizing nor did they have any slip for detangling. I didn't think they were very good for CO washes either.

In my experience, mousse is drying and doesn't have enough hold for me. That's why I prefer gel. If you like mousse though, I'd continue using it.
