Hmm I think I'd say it's more like 3a because the diameter seems closer to sidewalk chalk than sharpie marker, but I agree with everyone else, your curls are gorgeous!

If your hair is coarse, I'd say it sounds like higher porosity to me. The cuticle on low porosity hair is flat so the individual strands should be very smooth.
