I've used grapeseed in the past. It doesn't absorb well either when applied to my hair OR my skin. It sort of sits on top. Argan on the other hand absorbs pretty much right away...

As for the tubes, they started putting smaller amounts in tubes long before the reformulation. They still have it in tubs also. If you need something without aloe, the orchid doesn't have it.

I can't guarantee it hasn't been reformulated, but I will check the bottles at work on Monday first thing when I go. The site doesn't list ingredients.
