I only use coconut oil as a pre-poo. I mix it...

I only use coconut oil as a pre-poo. I mix it with olive oil and apply it to my hair in sections. I usually try to pre-poo overnight. Both coconut oil and olive oil penetrate the hair extremely well....

It's fine to use the same homemade products on your transitioning hair as you would on your natural hair. Like you said, you want to keep both parts of your hair as happy as possible....
