What is your washing routine? the flaky scalp is a tipoff.. suggests product buildup to me. Perhaps try a few washes with a different buildup remover shampoo? then a deep conditioner.

I can vouch for the fact that AG products work but you have to find out how much to use for your own particular hair. I tend to use a lot more Fast Food and a lot less recoil then other people do...

Agreed... it looks like you have a single length cut, and for your hair, I'd think you'll need a few shorter layers in there to let the hair lift naturally at the roots.
