Whispering Windz Farm jar soap shampoo
Ok, this has to be the greatest product ever for CG washing. I'm surprised there hasn't been more buzz over this stuff yet. I've been using it every day for several weeks now and haven't had a bad hair day since. It cleans better than a co-wash, but milder than a low poo, suds up like a regular poo, and no acv rinse like with soap bars. My hair feels clean without getting dry or stripped.
I used to wash every day with Kinky Curly Come Clean, or various other sulfate free low-poos. They always seemed a little too strong for everyday use, but at the same time, co-washing never worked for me either - my head just didn't feel clean. Soap bars were the biggest disaster in all my product experimentation ever. I like Dairy Whip pretty well, but still a little too strong for daily use for me. I think that Whispering Windz Farm jar soap shampoo is the perfect balance. After all this time, and all the products I've tried, this is the first one I'd say has HG status for me.

April thanks for the link and the review.
Have been looking for something that has some suds to it and makes hair feel clean and slick not all tangled and rough.
Did you have them add anything to it?
I like fresh fruity smelling products.
They all look so good will probably have to give them a try.
Has anyone else tried them??

Yes. Love them! I bought several samples from kathymack and have been really pleased. I don't need very much and still have one jar of sample left. I will have to mosey on over there and check all that stuff out! I had coconut, mangopeach and vanilla. Of all of them the vanilla is the winner for me--lurved the smell--num!

I think part of the reason they haven't been talked about more, is that some of us experienced a leeching of our hair color. One wash with the Whispering winds was enough to remove my $80 dye job! seriously. I wasn't the only one to experience this, I think MsG also had this issue. Or well, I don't know if it was quite so dramatic, but she did say it faded her hair color.
Keep using it if it works for you, I'd just be wary of it if you color your hair. Obviously if you henna, nothing is leeching that out heh.
Also, in my opinion, if its harsh enough to strip hair color from your hair, I'm thinking its not good for your hair. I do love love love it for my body though.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff. My sister and I both use this regularly. I only use it a couple of times a times a week to low poo, but she uses it every day. I have used it for several months. We both color our hair (salon color) and have not noticed it fading our hair color. It also probably depends on your hair type and such. I also have the conditioner.....in my opinion....the conditioner is nothing special. It wasn't moisturizing enough in my opinion.

Del2c just sent me a link to a whole thread on WWF that I didn't see before. I guess there are quite a few people using this! I loooove this stuff. I didn't notice any faster fading of my color with it, certainly not any more than with any other low poo (my color fades over time no matter what I use). I think the rate of color fading has a lot to do with hair type and the hair color used. Some brands (salon for me too) fade faster for me than others.

Why of course I sent it to you, you're my Buddy!
Definitely people need to take into consideration their hair type. I still stand by what I've posted numerous times about being careful with soap no matter what form it comes in. Porous heads in particular, need to proceed with caution as usual. I did use this on my hair once and I wasn't thrilled with how my hair felt. I love it for body and shaving.

The thing with whipped soap is its not soap. At least not the same as a bar soap. This is why you can use it on your hair without the acv rinse. Its made from a base all the whipped soap in the etsy stores are made from a foaming bath butter base. They all work just as well as whispering windz farms whipped soap. The ph is already at a 5.5 when they purchase the base. All they have to do is whip it with the oils of choice and scent.
I love this stuff to. I have porous hair and it works well for me. No issues with color fading for me.

When the curl chemist wrote her porosity article this question was raised on how jar soaps compare to bar soap. This was her reply but in the end only each individual can decide what's best for their own hair. It is helpful to know ahead of time that the potential for problems with using any kind of soap or jar soap can cause problems for some.
One note on liquid or jar sopas - I am not overly familiar with those, but a quick search showed the first ingredients are usually coconut oil soap or olive oil soap? If so, then these are still going to be potentially problematic when it comes to preserving your cuticular cellular mebrane complex. However, if you get your cut often or have lower porosity hair, perhaps it is not a problem. I have also wondered if the pH of some soaps and products are lower due to inclusion of other ingredients.

Its the stearic acid thats used to make the whipped soap super creamy. Its the way it binds with the lye during saponification. Not sure that its the same process for foaming bath butter though.

I don't think this stuff falls into that category because it isn't coconut oil soap or olive oil soap. I'm not an ingredient expert like some of you ladies, so I'll post them here and see if you guys can spot anything naughty in there:
INGREDIENTS--Goat Milk, Shea Butter,Aloe Vera,Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil,Sunflower Oil, Vitamin E,Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernal Oil, Glycerin, Water,Sodium Coccyl Isethionate,Sorbitol,Propylene glycol,Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinare,Stearic Acid,Sodium Chloride,Diazolidinyl,Urea & Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate,Tetrasodium
All I know is that for me, this stuff is milder than any other low poo I've tried.

Foaming Bath Butter Base: Glycerin, Distilled Water, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate.
http://www.kangarooblue.com/index.ph...roducts_id=198
I actually had that bookmarked because I want to make this for myself to use on body. I really like it a lot!!
What I don't understand is how the added ingredients make this OK to use on hair? That's a lot of oil which could be a potential disaster for some. How does this change it from what it started out as "chemistry" wise, which is a bath cleanser?
Added Ingredients: Goat Milk, Shea Butter,Aloe Vera,Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil,Sunflower Oil, Vitamin E,Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil,
Sodium Chloride-we see this in Shampoo unless the percentage is Low it could be very stripping. It's salt.
http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredi...edient_id=1467
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate- Derived from Coconut Oil another foaming cleanser that we see in Poos which we would again have to assume when combined with other moisturizing ingredients made for "hair" might make it less stripping.
http://www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredi...redient_id=273
http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...lfates-and-you
So what the Curl Chemist said is accurate about Jar soaps in Post#11 and how it can be damaging to the cuticle because it's derived from Coconut Soap.
Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate-an Anionic Surfactant which also falls under the Sulphate category.
http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...lfates-and-you
We've had numerous discussions on this board about Low Poos, Sulphate Poos, Soap Bars, Shampoo bars and how they all vary in harshness. We can get a good idea by looking at ingredients (for the most part) how stripping a product can be. In the end until we try it on our hair we don't really know for certain.
Some find various cationic surfactants http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...onium-chloride which are found in conditioners don't give the desired effect with co-washing either because they ruff up the cuticle. We all decide as individuals what's best for our hair. My point was porous heads in particular need to be wary.
I feel bad when we get posts about why a Cleanser that works so great for one person can be such a disaster for others. If we understand that certain "surfactants" can potentially cause us problems but go ahead and try something anyway, at least we'll know WHY it was a bust. We go crazy trying to avoid Sulphates and Cones but there are other ingredients that are just as harsh or sometimes even worse.

Yep, goobernut, I had to stop using this stuff on my hair because it did seriously strip my hair color. It's too bad because I really liked washing my hair with it. I still love it as a body wash and use it everyday. I had 8 sample jars and I think I might have one left and then I will order a full size jar for body washing. Love it!
xcptnl, I tried the conditioner and didn't like it. I can't find the ingredients on the website now for some reason and can't remember exactly, but I want to think that stearyl.....(can never remember the spelling) chloride was at the top of the ingredient list and it made my hair way too soft no matter how little I used.

Thanks for the conditioner info.
So msg - if this had not stripped your hair color you would have continued using it as a shampoo?

I've had a sample for a while from Kathymack, but I've had so many others, I haven't gotten to it yet. This makes me want to go home and try it! Since I henna, the color loss problem shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, I'll still have to use GTTTT a lot of the time, but this sounds promising for in between.

I would have kept it in rotation and used it once in awhile -- don't know if I would have used it on a regular basis. I think I would have been afraid to do that with my hair color.
