Default "Is it Weave?" Some people ask me usually when hair is curly!!!!

Some people ask "Is it WEAVE?"

AHHHHHH.... My usual response is "Does it look like an expensive celebrity weave or does it look like yak hair? LOLLLLLLL"

People are too much! Does anybody else get this question?

I used to, I also used to get asked if it was a perm... the weave thing at times would irritate me, as soon as I said 'No, its my natural hair' the person's eyes would go to my scalp. I just put it down to ignorance and didn't let it bother me

Oh yeah, I've been asked "did you get a perm" too. People didn't realize how much I spent at salons and wrapping my hair at night that it wasn't naturally bone straight... So when I would wear my hair curly... I'd get looks!

Well. On my 4th week of curly and people and most of all me! Are getting used to it!

I've been asked before if I had extensions, but I think it was more because of the length, not the curls.

LOL, when I bobbed my hair from long one time a male co-worker asked if I'd gotten a perm, and clearly didn't believe me when I said no. He was bald though....

After I BCed and rocked my natural hair, I've had a lot of people ask "Is it a perm?" In my head I was thinking, "Are you serious? It's growing out of my scalp." I say that it's not and they say, "It looks better like that; why didn't you wear it like that last year?"

To that I'm thinking (usually), "Well maybe it's because I couldn't appreciate my hair with people like you telling me I should straighten it. -_-"

I get is it a weave, wig, jheri curl, texturizer, texlax, tracks, glue in, anything you can think of except this is what grows out of my scalp. I'd been natural for a year when I found out my own father thought I had a chemical!

The crazy thing is when I had a perm, everyone thought it was my natural hair. I just give up!!

I personally have never been asked this since my hair has never been very long and is extremely curly as well. However, I have witnessed many of my friends getting asked this question all the time, and I must say that I think that it is the rudest thing ever. I mean, how do people even have the nerve to ask someone that? And moreover, most of the time it doesn't even look like a weave. I sympathize- those people have a huge lack of manners and usually ignorance on top of that to top it off.

Default LOL!

I got asked this by an Indian guy at a gas station once. When I told him it was my own hair, he looked at me dubiously and said, "Are you sure?" I offered to let him run his fingers through my hair to check, laughing at him the whole time!!!

I have gotten this my whole life, girls would ask me if I had a jheri curl or texturizer before I even knew what that was, lol. When I got older & would flat iorn my hair thats when people would ask if I had a weave. It always seem strange too me that random people and people who saw me often would ask. Esp. when all my bros and sis have the same hair.

+1 no matter what, people seem to think that my hair is fake curly, straight, relaxed. Maybe if I were to get a weave or extensions they would think it's real.

When I wore weaves, people ASSUMED it was real. If they complimented me on it, I would tell them it was a weave but they rarely asked. Now that I'm curly people (of color) ask me what I put in my hair. I've never had a "white" person ask me this. I think a lot of people think that people who are black or part black don't have curly hair (visible curl pattern).

I had someone I know fairly well compliment me and then add that I must tell her what I put in it to make it curl. I was like "huh? my hair is curly" lol. I also posted pictures of my hair flat ironed on facebook recently and was asked if it was "all mine." Never got that question when I wore straight, curly, or wavy weaves lol.

It's tracks of fake/animal/human hair that's sewn into hair braided on your scalp or glued (most damaging) in.

Guilty party here. I work with some ladies that have gone from straight processed-looking hair to what I think is naturally curly hair and I just love seeing their curls! So enthusiastically, I will say to them that their hair looks so great like that (the curly style)! They usually share then that it's not theirs. I apologize and say that I hope they didn't think I was getting too personal; I just wanted them to know that their new style looked great. They act like they are not offended and I truly hope they were not.

I don't think its the same b/c u were genuinely giving them a compliment. I've had people ask me in an accusatory or suspicious way...ahh the hair police!

Default Hi

I think the whole "look at the scalp thing" doesn't work because nowadays people are getting real good at making fake hair blend in and have you thinking that its real. I played my self plenty of times on t.v..

I have had all types of people ask me if my "curly" hair was real/permed. The two that i will NEVER forget is 1. How did you those ridges "waves" in your hair?~when i slicked back in a pony. 2. OMG, that's must've been real expensive-little old lady that's shocked and touching my hair, me~for what?, little old lady-to get your hair done like that!, me~Umm, shampoo, condish, and gel doesn't cost that much, little old lady-WHAT, that's YOUR real hair, like, it grows out like that?, me~yes, i was born with it, little old lady-Well people would pay a pretty penny to get their hair looking like yours!

My all time favorite is when i get it straightend at the salon, i go to work and the dummies know i have curly hair and knows what happens when its straightend, BUT still asked if i had a weave put in!!! REALLY!
