Default Elasta QP Feels Like Silk Liquid Styling Gel

Has anyone used this product?

Did you like it?

I really like this gel. It is now the only gel that I use. Leaves hair soft and shiny without using a lot. A bottle will last me about 2.5 months. Another pro is that the scent is very light and not noticable once hair is dry.

Hi,

Did it make your hair white until it dried? Does it weigh-down the hair (I need a product that does this)?

Thanks!

No residue. The gel is a bluish liquid...be careful rubbing it in your hands otherwise, it will fall off into the tub or sink...I have lost a lot gel that way.

Hmmm...does not weigh my hair down, but does help with frizzies...make it look more polished. I use it under Herbal Essences Break's Over conditioner and sometimes with Elucence.

I guess I do a modified CG routine. Cones don't really bother my hair.

Here are the ingredients:
Purified Water
Glycerine
Polyquaternium-10
PEG-75 Lanolin
Pathenol
Polysorbate-20
Fragrance
Imidazolidinly Urea
DMDM Hydantoin
FD&C Blue No.1 [C142090]

Back of bottle:
Liquid styling gel is perfect for finger styling waves into chemically processed or men's texturized styles. Also great for creating soft waves and controlling frizz on children's hair. Provides natural shine and smoothness without product buildup.
------------------------
I rinse daily with herbal essence's Break's Over conditioner, then apply a small of conditioner, then apply small amount of this gel. This has been my routine for the past 3 or 4 months. I have just introduced a new product, which so far is working nicely.

I shampoo once week or so with Eleucence Moisture Balance Shampoo. I also have the Moisture Balance Conditioner and will sometimes use it for conditioner washes, but I prefer HE Break's Over...and it is a lot cheaper and can be bought locally.

I really like this gel. It doesn't dry crunchy, the scent is very very light and it glides through the hair very easily. As I mentioned, be careful with squirting out too much because it can easily fall off.

I just tried this gel over SheaM and I really like it. I was looking for a gel that weighs my curls down and this one does significantly. At first, the smell put me off because it reminds me of Old Spice! Fortunately, it disapated after my hair dried. It seems to be CG, but I'm not totally sure. I don't see any cones in the ingredients...

Your hair is lovely l.deon! I have tried the Feels Like Silk before and I liked it but I haven't been using gel all over my head for the last few months. I am thinking that I will try it again layering it the way that you ladies suggest.

Thumbs up

@kdcreigh, I use this gel under Ecostyler Krystal and I get the perfect amount of weight, clumping, and definition without crunchiness. I start with freshly cowashed hair soaking wet in 4 sections. I take between a quarter and half-dollar size amount of the QP Feels Like Silk for each of the 4 sections. Then I go back and apply the ecostyler in sections using the rake and smooth method, no brush or comb. HTH.

I finally got around to trying this last weekend (purchased about a month ago). I used Hairveda's Whipped Gelly as a leave-in then used the Elasta QP over it and raked through. I liked the results. Almost exactly the same as when I use KCNT and KCCC. Probably the only difference was that it didn't last nearly as long as when I use KCCC. I only got a day out of it where with KCCC I can get at least 3-4 days (probably more but I ususally don't go that long). Definitely going to play around with it some more as I think it's a keeper.

yep the old spice smell is a big turn off for me. i have only used my bottle once but it left my hair soft and fluffy all day. i only do wash and goes on my hair so i don't know how many days i could get out of it.

I used some last week to do my twists. I like how it did not make my hair hard. I started a thread about my twists earlier this week. It has pictures of my twists using the gel. HTH

P.S. It is in the 4a area.

I have a bottle of this and it is pretty great. The only downsides are the flakes and the fact they have a new formula now (in a green and white bottle, lot of bad ingredients.) You may still be able to find some of the original at your local BS or online. Sally sells the new bottle now

this feels more like a thick syrum to me- took "FO EVA" to dry... reminds me of very concentrate curl activator. I used it for the 1st time last night ( had the bottle for several months) the friz is low & my lil coils have oppped all over the place, but I dont care for the " producty" feeling it leaves on my hair... Im charging that to the high gycerine content.. I wouldnt really consider it a gel though.. btw, i got no flakes

The 8 oz bottle (new formula) now has more vitamins in it and now contains parabens. It works the same for me. The 16 oz formula hasn't changed. I don't know if that is going to or not, as that size is marketed to their jheri curl line.
