Brazilian Keratin Treatment
Sounds like a gift from Heaven!! Anyone had this done? It supposedly washes out after 3-4 months so if you want to go back curly you can.

I've heard of it and have been considering it. But I'm waiting for awhile to see what the final verdict is. Remember the TR? Sounded like a gift from heaven and now peoples hair is breaking off and having damage etc. So I'm going to wait a bit.

Has anyone heard anything new about this? i just learned of it and am very interested in trying it but also would like to hear more first.
I also can't tell whether one would need to blow dry at all after washing - or if hair would just be straight. does anyone know?

I am not sure if I am thinking of the same thing...but my aunt gets her hair done in Brazil. I am not sure exactly what it is called, but I am pretty sure it uses formaldehyde as one of the ingredients. Sound familiar?
Her hair is very curly and it looks absolutely amazing. I guess with this treatment, you have to already have chemically treated your hair for it to work. It does wash out eventually.

From what I hear BKT doesn't work very well if you have 'virgin' hair - so maybe it is the same thing. i haven't seen anyone in person, but the photos i've seen of it look great.
i'd like to hear a little more first - plus i do have completely untreated hair, so i'm not sure it would work, anyway.

Yes that is the one! For virgin hair they recommend a TR but for any hair that has previously been treated including highlights (mine) that cannot use TR, this is the one. Pretty new over here but have heard nothing but great things about it. It's cheaper than TR but it does eventually wash out in 3-4 months and then you have to re-do it. It supposedly also makes your hair heathier.

Frizzcure
Has anyone heard of this new miracle product? Supposedly it doesn't disturb curls or waves but eliminates frizz! If this is true it would be a dream come true!
I'd love to try it but am fearful that my hair will simply hang straight like a broom. Anyone I know that had the thermal reconditioning ended up cutting off all their hair and I'd like to avoid this disaster.

I think what you are talking about is frizzcure. It takes the poof and the frizz out, and you can wear your hair either straight or curly.

BKT (Brazilian...)
Hi ladies, I live in FL (can't get much more human here in July..and August...and September ) and just had the BKT done last week. It is truly a blessing and one of the best things I've ever done for myself. All the great reviews you hear about it are true! i highly recommend it. I have curly/wavy/FRIZZZZEEEE hair with patches frizzier than others. My hair is as smooth and shiny as never before with a slight wave--and that's air drying! In South FL there is a tremendous Brazilian population so many Brazilian salons and stylists are doing it even from there home--which is better for me-same results, less cost. My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders and I paid $100. The next time around in about 2-3 months the results will take even better as the process is also known as progressive straightening down here. My hair is also VERY dry and permanently color-treated if you were wondering. GET IT DONE! You WILL love it!

BKT reply
Hi Max, I haven't taken any pix personally of myself with it. However, After I had the process, I did some online reading to see what everyone else is saying about it and found this site: http://www.braziliankeratin.com/
There's some VERY accurate pix on there. I personally have a nice, frizz-free barely-there wave on most of my head. Underneath, closer to my scalp, where my hair is in much better condition, I have a loose curl-also very shiny and frizz free. From what I've been reading, BKT takes better on more damaged hair. You will get straighter results. I can't wait for my next round of treatment.

I think its a great thing if you live in Florida or New York, where it is done in many salons. Anywhere else, its hard to find a salon that does it. If you had it done for only 100 dollars, you really got a good deal!
Personally, as badly as I want it done, I just cannot justify the cost of flying somewhere to have it done, as well as the cost of the BKT itself. I live in Houston, and have done loads of research to find a place that does BKTs, but no luck.
And yes, the worse your hair is damaged, the better it is with the BKT.

Phillycurlgirl, i've been thinking about doing this for a while but have been too busy to follow up because i live in a place where no one is doing it yet also. I did, however, call the people who are selling BKT and they suggested going to my own salon and seeing if they would do it for me - maybe even at a reduced price since i'd be their first customer. apparently, it's not all that difficult to do and the company apparently provides good instructions. just a thought.
i think i would like to do it, but 1) i don't have a salon to bring it to at this point, 2) i have virgin hair, so it's not going to last very long, and 3) my hair is getting long (since i haven't had it cut in a while) and if i straighten it, it will be way too long BUT, i don't want to cut it to wear straight if it's going to wear off in 2 months because then it won't work curly.
what a dilemma, <sigh>!
i do love the idea of BKT, though. it souns like a dream come true.
I hope i'll have time to think it through a bit bit over the next few weeks. i'm also waiting to hear about more results - although i'm starting to feel pretty convinced that it's a good thing.

I've been doing research on this product. It sounds like it's a Godsend. Everyone who has gotten it has reviewed it very well. I'm contemplating getting it as well. It would be a nice change and even better that I could go back to my curly hair in a few months.

I agree - I haven't heard one bad thing about it - which is very unusual. It's really sounding good.....

Frizzcure
Congratulations!
I'm glad that you had so much success with the brazilian treatment. Has anyone heard of the FRIZZCURE? This treatment is supposed to just deal with frizz without altering your curls and waves.
Just curious
