Default Alternative to Biosilk rock hard gel

Hi curlies,

Biosilk rock hard gel is my HG. To bad I can't find it anywhere where I live these days. The store I used to buy it from doesn't carry it anymore. I have it on order from the states, but it may be a while.

Can anyone recommend another gel to use in the meantime? I am using some cheap Garnier crap (Garnier hard gel) and it is drying out my hair like you wouldn't believe! ugg!

Thanks in advance for our suggestions.

Someone on here - maybe SweetPickles - found a gel by Chi that she said is a good substitute for BRHG. I think that some have found Sebastian Hi-Contrast Gel to be a good hold gel, too.

Yes, that was me. The CHI Infra Gel is a decent substitute (it's made by Farouk as well, same people who make the Biosilk line). The other gel that I've found is a really close match - better IMO than the CHI - is Beyond the Zone Spike It gel from Sally's. It's their BRHG knock-off. I actually REALLY like that one, almost as much. I still prefer the BRHG, but the Spike It gives me consistent enough daily results that I can save my stockpile of BRHG for special occasions.

I know some BRHG devotees have liked Got2b Spiked Up Max-Control Styling Gel. I haven't tried it in several years, but I did find it gave results somewhat similar to BRHG. But it dried out my hair like crazy, so I don't consider it a good replacement for me.
