Default Is your hair YOU?

My BFF always says that my hair *is* me. Cooky, crazy, untamable.

My mother says it's wild and unique like me.

I have to agree.

Do you guys ever feel like your hair is an extension of your personality?

Totally. My BF thinks so, too. When I straightened, I always felt like I had to be a little more low-key or something.... Not that I'm loud or anything with curls, but I feel freer when my hair is curly. And I've been accused of having an "effervescent" personality, so I think maybe my curls match that nicely.

The last time I got my hair straightened my husband said I didn't even look myself; I didn't look right and I shouldn't do that anymore.

Yep!
When I cut my hair off, I felt so average and boring. My hair is my trademark. When it's long and the color is perfect, just a little of natural hair color peeking around my highlights, I feel like Shakira or Carrie Bradshaw.

I feel like balances out my hips too.

Totally. The odd time I've straightened I've usually been told it's just not me. I just like how long it is when it's straight.

All I know is EVERYONE that has ever known me for a long time didn't like my hair straight. They kept saying, what is WRONG with your hair? When I decided to ride the WAVES again I got more complements than when it was straight. Does wearing straight make us look more SERIOUS?! Serious I am NOT do waves make me more goofy??????

Let's see: my hair is temperamental, inconsistent, slightly unbalanced, and always threatening to spin out of control..... But if you catch it on a good day, it seems like it just shouldn't be any other way.

Yup. Sounds like me!

Definitely. The last time I had a non-deva cut, the stylist blew out my hair as usual. My SO saw me and said that while it's nice, I look more high maintenance, serious, and like a typical asian. He loves that my hair sets me apart and I love it too!

to be honest, i think straight and curly suit me. i am crazy a lot of the time, but i also think i look nice when my hair is straight...its sort of more balanced since im pretty small.

however, i LOVE my curly hair, and LIKE my hair straight...so i definately think it suits me! whatever you like is more for you, naturally.

My BFF tells me all the time how "me" my hair is... I just keep trying to decode that on my own.

never exactly the same.
somewhat random.
romantic. (doncha just love the longg curls?)
detached from pessimistic reality (or gravity, in my hair's case)
different from EVERYONE.
*donottouch* =P

When I straightened my hair about a month ago (for the first time in 6 months) I just felt.. weird. people kept coming up and touching it. I had to be SUPERcareful. Usually, I'm pretty low maintenence. hair gets wet? who cares. I was much less spontaneous. and I felt the same as everyone around me. Good thing it was a novelty for me personally, or there would have been no interest there, except that it was practically to my waist.

am i a weirdo for saying "no" to this question?

i guess i've never worried about my hair, so in the sense that it reflects my lack of concern for other people's opinions or values, yes, it does reflect me. but in terms of personality, i am as much myself when my hair is straight (either naturally from dry air or that one summer i used a flat-iron) as i am when it's not straight.

i will say, though, that i think the curls/wurls suit my face better. i have kind of soft features and a roundish face (in the way morena baccarin does, though i don't look like her or fall into the same realm of beauty, but just that soft sweet sort of features), and straight hair doesn't look...right...with my face.

Yes!! I've been told that I'm crazy, random, and a little odd, just like my hair. XD Also, the quality of my hair changes with my mood. Like, if I'm really happy, my hair will (usually) look great and bouncy. If I'm stressed, it'll look frizzy and fluffy. Stuff like that, and I love it!

Everyone loves my hair curly but me. Don't get me wrong - I like it. A lot. And I am learning to love it. And I love it more for having spent time here, and in learning to have the patience for it. But I don't feel like "me" in the curls yet, and I never did when I was younger.

The sleek, smooth hair I had with the flat iron fit the shape of my eyes, my freckles and my olive skin. The curls just don't seem to jive with my face yet. Part of that may be the cut ... and I'm growing out bangs to be able to play with that. Also, when I was straightening my hair, I had pink extensions that contrasted so nicely with the dark brown and expressed my kooky, funky, bright, cheerful inside so well. I miss the pink. (And the extensions made my thin, fine hair fuller.)

But even though I don't feel like it's Me, I know that my curls ARE me. And I'm d*mn determined to make me become Me.

Current experiment is Co-Wash and Condition: V05 kiwi lime clarifying conditioner
Then KBB super silky, KCCC, then L'Oreal Melting Gel with a bit of GF Super Stiff mixed in.
Pre-toweling, post-toweling, pre-plop and post-plop. The jury is not out on the plopping thing. I think my hair is too fine.
fine / non-porous / thin aka 3"abba" / oh so Fine / just barely ii

I think my hair suits me very well. It's very soft and feminine, fun, cute, and bouncy, yet sometimes a little unpredictable and obstinate. Which, I have to admit is kind of me, only I'm a bit of a tomboy to a point.

I think hair definitely says a lot about us, whether we realize it or not. Just by not feeling required to straighten (even if we might from time to time), our hair can make us look defiant, independent, unique. It can say so much about us in terms of personality, culture and even politics.

Personally I am most *me* when my hair is big and loose and free, like a mane around my face. I don't even feel right in braids or twists because the hair is too tame and vertical for my face; I am literally scared to straighten my hair again for that reason.
