Default cosmetology school conflicting with naural hair

i have natural hair and i am beginning my beauty school. this week i am doning "ethnic" hair. i noticed that we dont learn alot of things. this week covers relaxers, relaxer touchups, pressing, sew/glue tracks, and jheri curls or soft curl perms. i was wondering why i didnot learn to tell new clients that once they relax hair it never never never reverts to its original texture and why we dont learn about nautural hair or how to just simply take care of our hair properly becaue some of us black people dont....

SMH I wanna kinda go to CS, but I heard that you have to let someone put those chems in your hair, which I don't wanna. What to do?

i would encourage u to go. and at the school i go to we dont have to let them do our hair unless you want to be a demo/model and that is voulentary. but i go to texas college of cosmetology and i dont think you can be forced into letting people style your hair

I would ask your instructor what the reasoning behind it is. They'll probably tell you they are trying to help you make money. I'm sure those services are expensive.

I'd also probably try and draw the instructor out into a conversation about it so in a round about way it educates the rest of the class.

Nothing that we learn in Cosmetology school comes even close to helping girls with curls know how to truly treat their hair with respect. You have to get outside training for that. We do learn lots of useful techniques that can be applied to many people but they just don't go a long way if your client wants to be naturally curly.
