Default BKT & Styling Products

Hello Ladies!!!
For those of you who had a Brazilian Keratin Treatment done, I would like to know what styling products do you use on your hair (if any).
Like if you want to wear your hair wavy/curly and let it air dry.
Or when you want it straight and flat iron it. Any balm, silicone, etc?

Do you use any products at all on your hair?

Thank You in Advance!!!

Hi - I'm getting this done next week and was wondering what shampoos/conditioners/styling products you'd recommend on post-BKT hair?

Thanks!

Hi! I am using Burt's Bees Super Shiny line and I love it!! They are affordable and you can get them in the supermarket or pharmacy store. The do not contain any sulfates and/or sodium.

As long as the shampoo does not contain sodium chloride you are good.

Hi, I am new here. I had the Coppola treatment done Monday and am (impatiently) waiting to wash it out. I have NEVER been able to blowdry my hair myself and I am hoping to wear my hair natural and let it air dry but I also don't know what styling product to use (if any).

Thanks!

I have been air drying my hair with no products at all, and so far I LOVE it.
But I am desperate to experiment with styling products, but don't have the nerves. LOL. I would hate for my treatment to wear out do to styling products.
But I would love to see how the hair will come out if I apply any styling products.
I am curious to find out if anyone is using any styling products.

I am hair obsessed!!

I have been using AG Fast Food leave in conditioner with a little of the moroccan oil. I also bought a leave in conditioner from the salon that did my BKT and its suppose to protect your hair from blow drying and the flat iron. I only use that one when I use blow dry it (sorry I am at work and forget the name).

I started going back to the gym this week and I sweat ALOT so the lady that did my hair last said that the salt in the sweat can make the treatment wear off. Now after the gym I rince it with just water and conditioner. Last night I mixed the condish with Jojoba oil and washed it out and let it air dry with NO products at all (just wanted to try it out) and I LOVE IT!!! It looks SOOOO much better then when I use products. I think i'm going to keep doing this and see how it goes. I let it air dry and it has a slight wave to it but its shiny and no frizz at all. When I use the produt it tries to curl more and looks a bit dull, not as shiny as it looks today.

So, I would say you are probably better off with no product unless you are going to blow dry it or flat iron it, then use something to protect your hair

I'm hair obsessed too, my friends and boyfriend are tired of hearing about it, LOL

Are you using silicone drops to protect from heat?
I got this very expensive one with keratin that is supposed to protect and be safe for keratin treated hair. I use it if I know I will sweat a lot so that the natural salts of my sweat wont remove my treatment.
Just wondering because I have not been using any products at all when I flat iron, but I do want to protect the hair from the heat . Can I use them in regular basis?

I was recommended the following (waiting for next week to get one):

Marrakesh Oil

Moon Shine Hair Gloss

ThermaFuse

I am still debating and researching..lol

Hi BonBon - You will have no problem blow drying your hair yourself. I have 3b-3c hair with extreme frizz and after my treatment - all I had to do was hold the blow dryer to my head and it dried completely straight. I just used my fingers. I use the Pureology shampoo and as far as conditioner they say you can use your normal brand. I also use a spray to protect my hair from the heat of the blow dryer/curling iron. You don't even need a straightening balm.
I know waiting the 4 days is incredibly hard. My hair was so oily and stringy by day 4 but it was so worth it when I finally got to wash my hair and let it air dry with no curls/frizz for the first time in 37 years.

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply.

If i'm going to flat iron or blow dry it I use the product I bought at the salon (When I go home i'll look at the name and post it) although I'm not fond of it. I feel when my hair is wet it makes it hard to dry it. Lately I've been letting it air dry and it has a slight wave. I use to use the Redken Heat Glide, I haven't in a while but I'm not sure if it will harm the BKT.

What product did you buy with Keratin in it? As long as it protects my hair from the sweat I dont care how much it cost.

Also, how often do you find yourself getting the treatment done? I think i'm a freak when it comes to my hair b/c its been a month since my 2nd treatment and i'm already worried about where to get it done or if I should buy the product and just start doing it myself. Both times I had it done it was in Florida when I was visiting my boyfriends family. I can't keep going there every time i need it done, LOL Wish I could but I can't afford that.

HI CurlyKat!!! Hello Ladies!

I am using the Liquid Keratin Serum ($29.00 for such a small bottle!!!)
I was told that the Aphogee Gloss Therapy Serum is better (and more affordable)

Since I purchased a BIG bottle of the treatment now I am able to do it every month. My hair was so damaged that I needed it done like that. The first treatment I waited 2 month before the second treatment. I wanted to see how it last. I could have gone more, but hair obsess as I am I will be doing it every month now. The hair looks better after each treatment. Plus is growing amazingly fast now, allowing me to be able to trim my ends more frequently and be able to get rid of that extreme damaged hair.
Also I am mixing a little of the treatment on my deep condish blend, and it always looks fresh!! I deep condish
every 2 weeks.

I forgot to mention that now I am applying it like "escova progresiva" style. I wash my hair, towel dry, apply the treatment, leave it 20 minutes, then blow dry, and then flat iron. Is faster this way, and the results are better the hair comes out shiny and wont feel as coated as the other method feels.

I'm hair obsessed too!! LOL Since I could remember, I drive everyone crazy, LOL

If you are doing the treatment once a month are you doing it on your own or are you getting help? If you are doing it on your own is it getting easier?

I want to be able to do it on my own b/c I can't afford the treatment at a salon and I swear that my sweat is wearing the treatment off So I feel it maybe something I need to get done at least every 2 months. Also, what iron are you using with it.

Yes, I am doing it on my own. And it gets easier every time.
I went to Sally's and found a 450* flat iron on sale for 24.99. I will post the bran in a bit. It is fantastic for that price. I use it for my treatments
Then I use my Maxiglide when i want to style my hair on regular days.

Once my hair reaches a length that makes me happy then I will do the treatment every 2 months. The treatment has salvage a lot of that damaged hair I once had. Little by little I am timing away to a healthy mane.

Default hey afro :)

I bought the marrekesh oil off amazon (was 17 dollars after shipping and taxes) and i think i read somewhere that ebay is cheaper. #1, i dont like the smell!! can't explain it!!! i havent really tried it yet because i havent really had the time and i just got it like 2 days ago, but i squirt a bit on my hand and it doesnt feel oily at all! so thats cool. personally, i havent been straightening my hair. i really like how it looks 'curly'. i went from a 3 something to a 2c. i pretty much have the hair i've always wanted, which is managable curly hair. and its so damn soft!! i used KCCC on it and it was just so damn soft! i use a lot of BRHG because if not, i will barely have ANY curls.

i mentioned in another thread that i wasnt too thrilled about it straight because it still takes me a really long time to straighten, which was what i was hoping would change. but im really enjoying it curly. i will try to just wash it and use only the marrakesh as a styler. i dunno if that will be enough for my hair because i just have WAY TOO MUCH HAIR for such minimal styling.

I'm going to do it on my own. I have nothing to loose. Before the treatment I use to flat iron my 3b hair 2 times a week and each time it got easier so I hope this does too.

The first time I had the treatment done my ends were HORRIBLE, so I cut them all off and now my hair is in crazy layers. I haven't cut my hair since and this was the end of May and I still have no split ends. I love this product!! I too want my hair really long, as long as Kim Kardashians, LOL So, I hope this helps get me the legth that I want.

Thanks Aphrodiva, you have helped me alot

That is funny, I was just wondering about the marrekesh oil!!!
I went to Sephora to see if they had it, they did not carry it there but instead I tried the Ojon Daily Intensive Shine Treatment.
I applied 1 drop of that on my hair and the hair was bursting in shine and so soft! The lady told me that it would look 10 times better after heat is applied, and that it would make my Brazilian Keratin Treatment last longer because the drops have proteins and vitamins that will penatrate and infuse the hair.
I was sold!
So I purchased it, came home, flat ironed partially (creating waves, not all flat) the hair was incredibly soft, and shiny.
One thing about this product is that is not heavy at all, so I have to get use to the idea of feeling like I am not wearing any product at all, LOL... I am used to knowing and feeling that I have silicone drops on my hair, or something! (what a habit) Don't know how to explain, but hair feels like feather with the Ojon drops.
What I don't like is the high price.
Also, since it doesnt have Silicones, I don't think it will protect my hair from the sweat and might not help protect the Kerating treatmentfrom it.
So I will stick with the silicone/keratin drops for days I know I will be so active, and working out. And use the OJON drops for when I want to have air dry the hair, or when I kno wI will not be that active and exposing myhair to sweat.

I will try the marrekesh oil next. Ordering this week!!! How obsess can I be?????

Thank you!
