Is there an unspoken upper age limit...
...for clubbing, in your opinion? Do you have your own personal unspoken, unofficial clubbing age limit? I mean for nightclubs that are clearly frequented by the under 35 crowd.
Not an "age limit" as in: shouldn't be admitted into the club, but just that age where you quietly think to yourself: He/She looks too old to be here or pathetic.
Unpopular and brutally honest opinions encouraged.
This is just an "out of curiosity" question, BTW.

I was watching a reality show recently where a woman was out in a very young-crowd club with her daughter and ended up making out with one of the young male "stars" of the show. He was extremely drunk, and when he found out the next day, he was appalled. I had a whole spectrum of thoughts about it from : Get it, girl! to What ol' fool goes out clubbing with her grown daughter? I was applauding her for having the confidence to brave that crowd at her age--she didn't look very youthful. But, I was simultaneously embarrassed for her when I heard all the comments being made about her by the younger people.
I also remember being that cute 21-yr-old snot, drunkenly laughing at the weathered-looking 35+ yr-old men and women in the clubs trying to find or maintain their grooves.
Personally, I'm not comfortable in that atmosphere at age 43--no matter how great I may or may not look in a dimly-lit club. I'm not looking for a hookup or a man--my man is not and never has been a clubgoer, and the only freakin' I do is home behind closed doors. I'm happy that I got it out of my system back in the day, but kudos to those who still like to hit the clubs.

I prefer live music clubs where an older crowd goes. But then again, I was never a huge trendy clubber, anyway. But at the "Old Folks' Clubs," I am able to believe that I'm not the oldest one there. Or the worst dancer. As an extra bonus, my favorite one also attracts a few college students, so I can flatter myself that I am not in a lame-o place that only caters to old farts like me.
And I totally didn't answer your question. But was the woman on the reality show was being ridiculed for being in a club at her age, or was she being ridiculed for making out with somebody her daughter's age while her daughter was there? I'm not saying that I would judge that behavior-- oh no, not me -- but.....

I don't think there's an upper age limit so much as usually those in the older crowd are only the occasional "clubber". Those who are regularly at clubs, yeah, I kinda think they might need to grow up. Or...maybe I'm just jellis.

I went clubbing a few weeks ago...first time in decades. I'm 47, and I was old enough to be the mother of nearly everyone in those clubs. So, I'd say 47 is definitely too old. That didn't stop the young men from hitting on my friends and me though. It was ridiculous. I think they thought older-woman-at-clubs = no-committment-easy-lay-cougar.
Good for the ego though.

This type of club would be fine for me now. If any young people frequent it, it's on *them* for being in the "old-timers'" club, and, I like that a sprinkling of youngsters would neutralize the "old-farts' club" vibe!
In the show, HE was actually the one being ridiculed publicly for making out with her. His friend was with her daughter, so everyone was ooged out that he was with the mom. I'm sure plenty was said about her off-camera by the young clubgoers, but I'm just thinking about how hurtful it would be to hear yourself being referred to as the booby prize--on national tv, no less. Then again, she allowed them to show her face in the segment, so maybe she enjoyed the notoriety! |

eh, I'm so old that these are the only clubs I remember from my youth...
