Appointment with Jeffrey (formely at Beehive) now at Self Salon
A little nervous for my appointment with Jeffrey. I always get nervous before an appointment. I have had so many "professional" opinions over the years of how curly hair should be cut. I just loved the stylist I paid $75 to tell me my hair should be cut one length at chest level to draw attention to my hardly there assets. The latest stylist I went to, who was Deva trained, mentioned that short hair might not look good on me because I have a shorter neck than most; oddly something I had never noticed before. I really want to try short; long is getting old and its not like I can do a lot with it in terms of styling. I am going to ask Jeffrey his opinion on going short and if I take the plunge and do it I certainly he is the right stylist. Has anyone been to Jeffrey before?
Lately I am frustrated with my longer hair and have thought of cutting it short and straightening it everyday. Would this kill my hair?

I don't know about Jeffrey but have read great things about him in different places so hopefully it works out! When is your appointment? Let us know how it goes.

Any updates and pics? I made an appt with him for this weekend but chickened out because I was afraid he wasn't versed in working with 4a hair. Not sure what your hair type is, but I'd love to know of your experience just the same!

I had my appointment on Saturday with Jeffrey. He is a god!!!!!! I love my hair now!!!!! I had been to another curly hair specialist back in May in NJ and Jeffrey is 1000% better. Jeffrey said my hair is a 3B for classification purposes on this website if that helps anyone. I had a really long styling process that is so not needed. I was originally using GVP leave in (Biolage) conditioner, Curl Keeper, Herbal Essence Mousse, and Herbal Essense Gel. My hair took forever to dry, felt like crap and did not look great but it was better than my pre CG days so I thought this was as good as it gets.
Jeffrey has such a better method with minimal products. He washed with Deva No Poo, Conditioned with Deva One and rinsed out. Flip upside down, shake hair and scrunch water out gently. One small palm of Deva Arc Angel applied by moving hands very gently over hair and than scrunching again in three sections, crown, right side, and left side (don't forget to turn your head!). Scrunch dry with tshirt and flip up, move curls to part your hair and you're good to go. Yes, my hair was ready with only one product in it and a small amount at that - amazing!!!!
When Jeffrey only used one small hand of gel I almost panicked. I was thinking to myself "oh boy here we go, my hair is going to be huge and frizzy when we are done". It wasn't, instead I have the most gorgeous moveable curls ever! I cannot believe how different it feels, my hair moves and feels soft.
I was even scared to try this method at home and had the crazy urge to reach for Curl Keeper and gel but I didn't and I love it, I was able to recreate the curls Jeffrey got. Now all the other products have been moved out of the bathroom and away into the closet, I even threw the HE mousse away!
I will try to post pictures next weekend but if you are thinking of going to Jeffrey, go and have no fear!
Also if you are a new client you get 20% off the service which is great! PS. if you do make an appointment let me know as they have a referral program.

Hola...
I am definitely going to look into making an appointment here. I actually posted asking about a few places I saw because I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the usual $140-160 cut. May I ask what the price range was?

My total was $120 and I also had the three Deva products in that amount so I think the cut came out to $66. If you do make an appointment let me know as I believe I will get 15% my next appointment if we complete the referral form on their website.

For Needtoskivt:
I booked an appointment with Jeffrey for next Friday. Let's do the referral form!
Question...did he dry your hair? The website says a blowout is extra...are they talking if you want your hair straight? Just curious.

Thanks for the update! I'm still scared to get my hair cut, but if I decide to take the plunge I think I'll book an appt with Jeffrey...

They did dry and style my hair and I do not believe this was an extra charge. I got to sit under this wonderful dryer that was not blowing warm air but had this moving heat wand. He also cut a little more after my hair was dry to clean everything up. I will fill out my portion of the form and email it to you if you can PM me your email address.

Hey I just want to confirm that this is the Self Salon in Brooklyn? I'm looking for a good haircut while I grow out my hair but I don't think I'm ready to commit to a Deva price.
