Angry Ok this is really annoying...

I go to a school with a ton of people that have straight & wavy hair and they don't understand my hair at all! (not to be confused with the people with wavy hair on this site, people at my school haven't even heard of this site!)
Anyway... they will constantly be like, "What's wrong with your hair, it's all poofy" and "You should straighten your hair, it's really pretty".

I know they don't mean harm by it, because those are my friends, but it still annoys me. (p.s. showing proof that there aren't many curlies at my school, I only know 4 ppl AT MY SCHOOL that have curly hair)

I know, it drives me insane. Like everyone is just amazed with my hair!!! All the girls at my school who have curly hair (only a few) always straighten their hair.

The same thing happens to me. I am the only girl at my school with curly/wavy hair - about 10 or so in total, from what I can tell on a daily basis...we have a small school - who has never straightened it and definitely doesn't do so regularly. I am often told I should straighten it or "at least run a brush through it". Rrrgh.

But like you say, nobody really means anything by it (unless it's said with malicious intent), so I figure those comments are harmless and ignore them.

Last night was the first night I tried to sleep in a pineapple (it worked), so instead of my hair being flattened into waves, it kept its normal 3c state. About 5 people went up to me and said,"OMG your hair is so poofy? What happened to it?" (p.s. I happen to like my hair "poofy", I won't be changing it anytime soon.)

Hmm.. there's a lot of curlies at my school. Omg, there's this one girl who's locker is like near mine and her hair looks gorgeous. And keeps that look all day (I've seen her at break + afterschool)... ugh.. I'm tempted to ask her how she does it.. if you saw it.. great definition, bounce... curl envy..

However, the curlies at my school are all 3a/3b ish.. mm.. makes me kind of stand out but I don't have the time to straighten, nor do I care enough to straighten it, and I'm starting to love my curls..

There aren't many curly girls at my school...pretty much everyone has straight blond hair (srsly) or straight brown hair...there are a few girls with wavy hair, and i'm like one of 8 who has curly around 4a/b hair......but the girls at my school LOVE my hair!! they think its really cool that my hair is poofy and can defy gravity.....

yeah, i know, i get that a lotttt.
last year, i gave in and straightened my hair everyday and now i leave it curly everyday, and it looks great (if you ask mee) but when i leave it curly no one says anything about my hair.. but when i have it straight they say "ohh! i love your hair striaght! you should straighten it all the time!!!" (when i did straighten my hair, i noticed the top is all nice and shiny-healthy, but the bottom is horribly frizzy and dead..., my mom won't get it all cut off cuz my hair might turn into an aphro, and she won't allow that cuz she has perfect, straight hair...)
and i am the only curly girl at school who doesn't scrunch my hair so its all.. hard. (?)

Haha, I get that all the time, it's the exact same thing down to a T at my school(:
I actually became friends with this girl because of my hair, she thinks it's amazing and enjoys fluffing it XP.
..Along with every other girl I see..whether they're my friend or not.. not too pleased about that.. but. What're you gonna do? (x

I definetly understand. I am sick and tired of girls asking me to straighten my hair. I mean why would i take two hours to do that in the morning, when my hair is already gorgeous.

theres a couple people in my schoool with curly hair, but they always straitin it or it's covered in gel and looks horible and greesy. one person at my lunch table has perfect blond 3b/3c curls and she always puts it in a ponytail or straitins it. she wore it down once in the three years i've known her, and she put it up after 4th pd.

omg!!! i totally understand!!! at my school there are a couple curlies but they all straighten their hair. My hair on the other hand is 3a but it's really thick. when i wear it out (which is almost never) people always come up to me and go "it's so poofy" or "WHOA! what happened to your hair?" or "how do you brush your hair? it looks really poofy." and most of these comments come from one girl and she also said "can i straighten your hair" and "you should REALLY straighten your hair" it makes me feel really self consious about myself which is why (while i'm at school) i tend to wear it up in a ponytail. i kno i shouldn't let it get to me and i always say to myself that i should just wear it out but i never really have the nerve to do it anymore. Maybe one day when i'm ready i'll rock my curls again...hopefully that day will be soon

Ugh, I know what you mean!
I know plenty of girls with curly/wavy hair but 95% of them straighten it.
I mean, there's this one girl in front of me in english class who's hair is always pin straight (of course, she straightens it). I asked her one day if her hair is curly and she sighs, as if she's ashamed, and says yes.
I told her she should where her hair curly, but she refuses to. Occasionally, she'll wear it curly, but she straightens her hair and THEN uses a curling iron to make a few waves! So horrible for her hair.
And when she's facing the board, I tend to notice the dozens of split ends of her hair. It's so horrible. The ends are split over and over again.
I think I'll direct her to this site and see if that will convince her to go curly –*at least for a day! And I KNOW people will compliment her! I know it!
It's horrible how girls kill their hair.
