curly stylist in monmouth/northern ocean county nj

Hi Fellow curly ladies!
HELP!! I am in dire need of assistance. I just started a new job and need a cut desperately!! I cannot find a good curly stylist in my area. I have lived here 23 years, and have had nothing but bad luck. I must have been to at least 15-20 different salons over the years, and have paid bargain prices to expensive cuts, but have never been satisfied. I was able to go to Ouidad many years ago, but am not in a financial position to do so now. I have been told many times that the stylist I am seeing "really knows curly hair", but when I mention names like Ouidad or "Curly Girl", they look at me like I have 2 heads! Can anyone out there help me? I have checked the salon reviews on this site, but many are over a year old, so not sure if I can trust them. I can only afford about $50-$60. PLEASE HELP!! Thank so much for letting me vent! Hope to hear from someone!

Hello there fellow Monmouth/Ocean County curly girl!
I have not had a haircut in so long because I am terrified of another bad experience; however, my curly friend has tried to get me to go to http://robertgerbersalon.com because apparently "they know curly hair". I'm skeptical of course, but I will actually ask her right now how they cut her hair (if they cut it wet or dry), and I will get back to you.

I live in Monmouth County too. I am taking no more chances and am taking the train into NYC to get a cut with Carlos at Mario Diab in a few weeks.
