The Political Compass
A different kind of political profile than was used on the other thread. It takes more time to complete, but is a lot more thorough and gives you a little more flexibility in your answers.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 3.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.56
I don't know how to copy and paste the picture but I am basically just below the middle line on the libertarian side, and in the 4th square to the right of the very middle. So I'm very moderate, apparently, although on this board, I am made to feel like I should be up there with GW Bush, lol. I took this test before and I think I had slightly different results.

I'm a slightly leftist libertarian, like Nelson Mandela, apparently. I think I got that result because, even though I'm religious, I don't believe in legislating my beliefs.

I'm in there with you guys:
Economic Left/Right: -8.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.26
It puts me awfully close to communism, however, which bothers me a lot. I do NOT believe in Communism, although I think Marx was right about many things. But what can I expect from a quiz that doesn't even ask whether one believes in capitalism vs. a planned economy? (At least not that I don't remember, but maybe I'm wrong...)

This notion is why I thought it was good that we can recognize that everyone has morals like in that one thread on the non hair discussion bored. Morals come from different sources, but all legislation is influenced by whatever morality wins out. If people take umbrage with what influences your morals, then they make it sound like a distinct situation. Lots of non-religious folks do believe in legislating their beliefs, and having government reflect their worldview, and defend their, in most cases, relativistic definitions of morality with fervency. People, philosophies, and self can be reverenced too.
I tend to lean libertarian and greatly respect personal liberties and small, non-intrusive government, but a sense that to 'live and let live' is more righteous really breaks down to an argument over...what causes harm to individuals and society and what doesn't? That argument can be applied to things that are illegal now and most of us connect to why they're illegal...yet tomorrow they could be seen as acceptable.
I understand aversion to a group that seems to have their say trump everyone else's, but honestly our government was set up pretty good though not perfect. The people have been reflected in an impressive way considering, but we villainize what should occur in a democracy...where people are bound to disagree, but we all attempt to be represented.

I'm so non-committal...
My Economic left-right was 0.00
My Authoritarian/Libertarian was -0.77 toward Libertarian
I've always thought of myself as a moderate who leaned right on economic issues and left on social issues.

I consider myself a conservative, both socially and fiscally. I think the results here are fairly accurate.

I expected I would be closer to center as far as economics - I guess I am getting more cynical about the "free market" in the age of the multi-trillion corporate bailout.
I knew I was a big old libertarian - that is no surprise.

You turned up somewhat socially centrist on this though.

True, although I did qualify by saying I thought the results were fairly accurate.
I am a hardliner on abortion and the death penalty, but less authoritarian on other social issues. It's hard to recall some of the questions or my answers that skewed my social compass.
I thought it was interesting, nonetheless.

LOL
I think when we've debated, it was often abortion or perhaps homosexuality oriented, so I had pictured you as more socially right from that.
This chart is interesting.

I hate to shatter some misconceptions here, but I'm nowhere near as wing-nutty as some would like to believe.
