Default super dry hair from coconut oil!?

Does anyone else's hair hate coconut oil? I have finally had to accept the fact that my hair just doesn't like it. Funny thing though I can use herbal eesence hello hydration with no problem, but maybe its because the ingredients say coconut extract.
I really wanted to to try afroveda's pur whipped jelly because of all the great reviews. And so many other 4A's and 4B's swear by coconut oil. No fair. IAnyone, anyone at all have this problem

I can use coconut oil in conditioner but not by itself. It makes my hair hard hard hard and i lose all of my wave. My body loves the oil! There is nothing else which works better for dry skin than coconut oil.

I don't think my hair cares for pure coconut oil just my itself. Mixed into other products, its fine.

Interesting ladies, certain conditioners work for me as well if they have some soert of coconut component but just not oil. I tried to use elucence moisture balance conditioner my hair absolutely hated that! I think I'm gonna have to do some more expirimenting with addind it to other things. I guess it could also depend on how far down on the ingredient list it is.

Coconut oil can cause your hair to hang on to protein making it harder, maybe that happened?

I have had this experience too...my hair also feels this way about castor oil and vegetable glycerin. My hair is not really a fan of humectants and/or heavy oils period. But I can use certain products with these ingredients...maybe it depends on how high they are on the list and the amount?

Me neither... My hair may have reached a saturation point with coconut and/or protein for awhile. I've been using both almost daily for the past month or two, and this week my hair has been snarly and dry. Poo. Looks like it's time to go conditioner and FSG ingredient shopping.

My hair hates coconut oil as well.

I used it on dry hair to do as a deep treatment and when I went to rinse it out my hair as sooooo dry and rough and stayed that way for a couple days, it was terrible.

My hair also hated AOHR, I think it might be because of the coconut fatty acid they use. Did anybody else have this problem?

hmm...must have been something else in it then. I am tempted to try a different AO conditioner but am worried about getting the same results. Maybe if its not the coconut fatty acid cream base I won't though.

pj...taking...over...

Someone said their hair has been "snarly and dry" - ME TOO!
I have been on a coconut bender since, I guess September?? Its been fine til the past week. I am in NO WAY sure its the coconut, but it did occur to me....

SO today I skipped my komaza stuff and my hair seems better. But it could also have been the damn mousse I have been playing with, so I will have to experiment to be sure.....

I thought all AO conditioners had the "coconut fatty acid base"? Somebody else mentioned that its really just cetyl alcohol.

Ya I believe they do too. I just found that information about it just being a fatty alcohol that is common in lots of products (can't remember the thread I read it on). That's why I was hoping a different AO conditioner might work for me if the coconut fatty acid base isnt the same as coconut oil because my hair hates coconut oil

In another thread I had a couple ppl tell me that the the other AO conditioners dried and frizzed them out too (I believe rudeechick was one of them). So coconut oil or not, AO is probably for my hair.

I didn't have a great experience with their shampoo or conditioner (over a yr ago) but I don't even remember which ones they were...I know I tried Rose Marqueta (sp) but I don't remember the other one (s). I just bought AOHR b/c so many ppl recommended it but I haven't tried it yet. Generally, I have the best results from Giovanni conditioners but it depends which ones. Have u tried them?

I have tried the 50:50 conditioner and the Direct Leave-In. Both seemed too light for me and I was iffy about the protein (soy I believe). My hair is in a constant battle with everything people find moisturizing. I guess it refuses to succumb to the masses

I had "high hopes" for coconut oil, but it left my hair very dry. It did elongate my hair, about the length when my hair is stretched halfway. But the dryness is not worth the length.
