Any Chicagoan wavies here?
I'm a Chicago gal, about two weeks into CG, and my hair is driving me nuts. It looks so nice underneath, but when I flip my hair back over, the top of it is just awful (I'm posting some pics of how it looks today). I was in Philadelphia over the weekend, did the same routine, and my hair looked *so* much better! I'm having trouble finding any information on the water quality in both places, and I'm wondering if that might be the difference? How do you fellow Chicagoans handle your hair?

I'm a fellow chicagoan. We just moved from the city to Arlington Heights about a week and a half ago.
I am the wrong person to be answering about curl as I have been having craptastical hair the last month or so.
I went from hard to soft water.
Things that help my curl...protein, soap bars, ACV rinse and curl enhancing products. My favorite is JC RR&CC.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time too! Your hair looks gorgeous, definitely something I aspire to, but I think my waves are just too big :P I'm thinking of trying out some JC products, especially with the CurlMart sale. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm from Chicago too! We have soft water in this part of the city, and I feel like it pulls out my curl. My hair definitely curls better when I'm at my parents' house in Michigan, and I think the water has a lot to do with it. But I *just* started CG, so I'm probably not the best person to answer the question.
Good luck!

That sounds like fun Though I must admit, I've taken a break from the boards this week, and have considered not coming back. I feel like I've become obsessed with my hair since starting CG, and the more I fuss over it, the worse it looks! And after sampling a ton of products from CJ and DM, it turns out that my CurlsRock still works the best. I'm thinking of using it until it runs out, then trying the Mop-C Curl Defining Creme, which I've heard is really similar.
So I'm afraid that the only products I have are tons of non-CG, Garnier Fructis products, which is probably of no help to anyone :P Meeting up sounds neat, I'm just afraid that I have nothing to bring to the table!

I hear you about being obsessed. I'm an obsessed person by nature, so to be obsessed about my hair doesn't strike me as weird or out-of-line. I've just shifted obsessions
So do you have an CJ CCC or any of the products you sampled?

I have the sample sizes that I bought from kathymack. So, like, half of the container of CCCC (which amounts to something like 1/4 oz, not much at all), a 75% full small squeeze bottle of Giovanni LA Natural gel, and a 75% full small squeeze bottle of CJ Smoothing Gellie. You can imagine how small the amounts are :P
