Hair Bio thread?
Okay ladies, I've been seeing a lot of talk about posting what works for us. I've been thinking about this for a while and this is what I propose.
I think we should start a separate thread from this one (this thread should be how to format the Hair Bio thread). Maybe Called Hair Biography? Hair Stories?
I think it should be more than just what is in our siggies, and its goal should be to help some of us clue in on what product works under what conditions and hair types. For example, I'll list what I use, but also in a little "annotation" I'll explain what my hair doesn't like -- like oils, or what it loves (wow don't know that one yet).
Soooo for example:
Hair type (you know the old school 2,3... yada) -- include information about your curl, like resilient, hard to straighten, easy to weigh down... etc.
Texture
Porosity
Density
Elasticity
Hair Ingredient Hates:
Hair Ingredient Likes:
Water issues (none if you have none)
Climate you live in
Favorite Styling techniques: (this can be brief or detailed -- depending on how important it is to you)
Any other suggestions? I know this kinda seems redundant with our siggies, but I've kinda seen some patterns develop, like low porosity girls not liking oils (though that's not true across the board), and the spritz and condish working pretty well for porous heads (thanks to DEL2C for working on that thread). This way, the info is all in one thread and perhaps by centrally locating all this we'll be able to see the patterns more easily? Also, I've seen several ladies talk about starting threads like this one, so I can't be the only insane person who thinks this would be a good idea.
Just let me know if I'm over complicating it heh.
It would make hair stalking a little easier as well. Not to mention since I have several issues, I could peruse the thread and glean information from several different posters in the same place. I do think it should be started here in our board, and not the general -- maybe if it really works then the other hair type boards will start it in their area.

I think it's a good idea. My routine is constantly changing - so would we just add a reply if we had something to add/change.

I'd add a section for combos that work and in what time of year. I have so many products it's hard to keep that straight in my head. Like this for example.
Fall/winter combos
CJ CALI, DoC, Ecostyler
Spring/Summer combos
Suave as a LI, KCCC, BRHG
We could just keep adding to our post when we found new things that worked.

That's true, Jess. Editing an existing post would probably be less confusing.

I'm at a conference and have sporadic (that I have to PAY for at a Marriot Hotel!) internet. I'll be back closer to the weekend and will post more but this sounds great.
LOL I was fine with not looking at my work email and everything but just could not step away from nc for several days!!! You guys rock!

What a great idea! I'm game!
I also like the idea of updating the posts rather than having new ones. As a newbie, I can tell you first hand it gets frustrating to see someone say "oh this is the stuff right here" only to find out now they hate it in another thread, and having to search around for why (dewpoints? or build up?). I'd also love to see more symptoms mentioned about why a person uses a certain product and when. Like if a person is sensitive to hydrolyzed wheat protein, tell me the symptoms too ie. strawlike hair, etc. That was an easy example, but you know what I mean.
But yeah, I'm game! I'm still experimenting with products if that's OK.

Exactly!! This drove me nuts at first. Finally I figured out who the main PJ's were and started waiting a month or two for them to decide if they really liked something before I tried it.
This will only work for as long as members actually update their post, but hopefully it will become like a database of conditions, and as people starting learning more about their hair, they can turn to some "real world scenarios" to compare to hehehe.
Oh and do edits show the date of the edit? I think they do right? If not, we can just add the date of the edit into the post.

Update:
Jess and I are working on a template. We'll get the format down for the information, and then it will be posted here, for you guys to review. Once it has been democratically voted over lol, then we can start the hair biography thread.
Jess pointed out that it would be a great tool just to see what she's done with her own hair. I wasn't even thinking of that.

I am so excited, I wish I had known sooner so I could have gotten my hair cut by her, but I will settle for just talking to her while she cuts Curlilocks hair.
