Default Anyone else have crossing phone lines trouble? (AT&T)

I'm assuming this is network-related, but some lady who sounded utterly clueless at AT&T suggested it was hardware (iPhone). When I make calls, someone else picks up, even though my phone says I'm connected to Mom or SO or the person I actually called. After that weirdness, the call will disconnect from the wrong person and ring again, likely to another wrong person. Then it'll disconnect and ring through to the right person. I'm not doing anything to the phone during all this, other than apologizing to the people who get strung in along the way.

Today it got weirder. Mom answered a call from me and got some guy named Jim, and I got some older woman while connected to Mom.

I reset my phone per the clueless AT&T lady's instructions, but it clearly didn't help. Anyone else having this trouble right now, or is my phone/network here a little possessed?

YES!!!!!!!! This has been happening to me and my mom for quite some time now. We have AT&T as well. Our calls will also get dropped a lot. We are in the process of finding a new phone company now.

Arrrgh. Now I got "Melissa's voicemail" (???) while trying to call my doctor. On with AT&T now.

Never had this happen with my iPhone. How weird.
Our landline with Verizon was weird though. I could hear TV shows on it quite often (weather, game shows) as well as radio. Worse was hearing these two guys talking obscene nonsense quite a bit. They were apparently on a radio line of some sort and apart from the phone, I'd turn on the radio and hear them. Sometimes the TV signal would get disrupted even!

Yeah, it reminds me a lot of what used to happen back in the day with cordless phones and analog cell phones. AT&T doesn't have half an idea why this happens. They told me I have to talk to tech support, but I have to call from a different line, which I don't have. This is ridiculous.

It's AT&T, not iPhone. They are the suck. I had them back when they were Cingular and had great service. Now I have the same problems you have and there's rarely a phone call that they don't drop. 3G isn't available in my area, or much of anywhere it seems, so I have some crappy Edge network. I hate it. I would switch but pretty much everyone I know is on AT&T and of course I'm under contract. My coworker doesn't have the problem you have and he has an iPhone. He does have a lot of missed calls and such though. I've read a lot of reviews of people pretty pissed that to have an iPhone, you have to have such awful service.

They really need to step it up.

I tried to tell them it was a definite network issue, not hardware, but they keep wanting to send me to tech support. Seriously, I just want to know whether I'm in some network crossfire area, and if so, I want them to sort that out. I've lived here for more than a year, and this is a new problem. Are they working on towers? Can I expect this to stop? They don't have any answers. No surprise there.

Switching would be silly for me, too, Rheanna. I'm on a family plan and get a company discount, so the money factor alone will keep me a customer. Plus, the people I talk to the most are with AT&T, which makes things pretty simple. And then I don't want to go jailbreaking my iPhone, nor do I want to ditch it. But Lord, AT&T customer service is the pits.
