Sharing A Sweet Grandmother Moment....
After the Halloween party and trick or treating, my grandson wanted to spend the night with me. As I was driving us home, he in his Star Wars costume and me in my Cat costume, he asked if I had cereal for breakfast. I didn't. I stopped at Safeway to pick up cereal and milk. We were in costume and the people in the store thought we were cute. LOL!
When we got back to my house, I had him take a warm bath to settle down from all the excitement and sugar high for the night. I put him in bed to watch cartoons, while I took my bath.
When I crawled in bed with him, he wrapped himself around me and said, "If all my bones were broken from my head to my feet, I would still protect you." "I love you that much, Nana." I told him I would always be there for him and he said he would always be there for me.
He turned 6 on Monday. We are having a b'day party this Saturday. OMG! How blessed am I. We woke up Sunday morning with him having his cereal and then we went swimming in the heated pool at my apartment complex. I didn't take him home until 3pm that day.

They crack me up. One time my grandson told me I had wrinkles. I asked where and he said all over my hair. I love being able to spend so much time with them. I know they will reach an age soon where they won't want to spend the night with Nana. I'm soaking them up as much as I can now.

Don't be so sure about that! We have been blessed to live right next door to our kids' grandparents (my in-laws) since they were tiny. They are now teenagers...and they STILL love to spend time with "Momma" and "Poppa".
That little story of yours made me all teary-eyed! What a little sweetie!

Aw, that's a good kid! What a sweetheart.
And I loved spending the weekend with my grandparents, even in my teenage and early college years.

I had a grandmother who had a lasting affect on me and I have so many wonderful memories of her. I use her as my example for my grandchildren.
I can still smell her perfume and can see her tapping her foot and humming when an old Lawrence Welk rerun comes on tv.
She loved Perry Mason, juicy fruit gum, red lipstick, and The Edge of Night. Every night she would drink a VERY STRONG drink right before bedtime. That was the only time she drank.
She was the best cook ever and my daughter and I will cook her recipes for her family, like I did for mine.
I really miss her, but I feel blessed I had her in my life while I was growing up.
Thank you, Granny, for being the best grandmother, ever. I hope I am doing you proud.
