Any 4a's use Denman??
I just bought a Denman D3 today and plan on trying it this weekend on my daughter's hair. Does anyone here use a Denman? How often? Does it do anything that a wide tooth comb doesn't do?
Thank you!!!

I use it on my hair about once a month to detangle my hair. I also use it on my daughter's hair. She loves it much more than the wide tooth comb for detangling. She says that the brush doesn't hurt like the comb does, and I agree.

I use it on my ends when detangling but only after finger detangling, then my shower comb, and only only on small sections at a time. I never loose much hair in it. I also use it after my rat tail on my ends so i'm probably an exception. But I like my ends nice and smooth when I'm braiding and twisting them to seal them with my castor oil.

I have one and I like it. But you have to be very careful with it or it can snatch your hair. So I'm always detangling with my fingers first, then with a wide tooth comb and finally the denman (more for styling than detangling). And of course my hair is loaded with conditionner.

I bought one for the 2nd time to try the super soaker method and it felt like hair was being yanked too much. When I ue a brush on wet hair I use my Mason Pearson junior, and only on the ends after I have completely finger detangled, and only with conditoner in.

I use mine only in the shower to detangle when my hair is full of a very slippery conditioner (lately I like Treseme for that). I stand directly under the shower head and brush in small sections until the conditioner is sufficiently rinsed out. I use it on my daughter in this manner as well. I haven't noticed any problems with using it this way.

for detangling I think its the same as a wide tooth comb.. I used it to apply KCCC in sections and it left my curls more defined. That seems to be what a lot of people love about it the defining properties, but u have to make sure u use it properly in sections..

The first time I tried it, I vowed never to use it again... rip city!!! Then I used it during my last wash to help remove additional shed hairs... after I finger combed, wide tooth combed, and with a ton of condish... and it really worked wonders on my hair. I may try it when I apply the DM miracurl to see if I'll get more defined curls as someone else suggested when they use it to apply KCCC.

I use the Denman D-31 and i love it. when i bought it the box says its made for afro hair & i agree the spacing of the teeth are wide enough that it doesnt snag my hair out.

I use mine and it's a valuable tool for me. However, I do have to go slower with it in certain areas of my hair. The hair being wet and sopped with conditioner is a must.

I have the D31 (wider spaces). I really want to like the Denman, but the size of sections I would have to divide my hair into to use it would take me all day to detangle. I tried it under the shower with TONS of conditioner and I saw broken hairs everytime I passed the brush through. I agree that is defines the curls great, but my hair is too dense and it always ends up yanking out hair.
I think my wide tooth comb is much gentler, quicker and gives me the best results.

I have one of those fake denmans that i got for like $2 at a department store. It's the only thing I use to detangle my hair. I find I have a more difficult time with a wide tooth comb. It does take quite a bit of hair out but i notice it's only shed hairs. I use it once a week and it keeps my hair looking done the whole week until the next time I wash and deep condition.
Basically what I do is wash, load on a hair mayonnaise (I've been using Tea Tree Oil from Lustrasilk), seal with shea/olive oil mix, sit for about an hour with my hair wrapped in a plasic bag and towel, detangle with denman in sections followed up by twisting each section, then I proceed to rinse the twists with coolish water, after that I apply my shea mix to the twists then I unravel the twists and rinse again under cool water to have a more defined look. It sounds like a lot but it's really not and my hair stays done the whole week. Love my fake denman.

lol Yall are making me want to go get a refund!
I guess I'll try it this weekend. Maybe I will take a picture of her hair after being washed and detangled with a wide tooth comb, the usual. Then take a picture after being washed and detangled with Denman and this new conditioner I bought.
Actually, if anyone is still here, has anyone tried GVP Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm? Sally's knock off. I just bought it so I plan on trying it this weekend....

I use mine all the time I love it however I MUST have conditioner in my hair. I find I lose about the same amount as when I use a wide tooth comb.
