Default my cry for hair help. . .

I haven't shampooed my hair for about a month or so now, before i even heard about the CG method. I use tresemme conditioner, but recently (actually, just today) began using the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition in that dark green bottle. After i get out of the shower, i flip my hair over and spritz it all over with john frieda leave-in conditioning spray and then put tresemme curling mouse over that, scrunch, and put my hair up in a towel for about a half-hour. after that, i toss the towel into the hamper and let my hair air dry. as it gets to be more dry (and frizzy!!!) than wet, and the curl just kinda lays there, lifehouse, i scrunch Proclaim 7 Essential Oils into my hair to cut the frizz and hopefully give my hair some life. For about five minutes, my hair is shiny and curly and looks so nice. than when i look in the mirror again, it looks frizzy, dull, and the curl is not so curly anymore.
sometimes if i can manage it, i either just use my conditioner or some leave in conditioner as a scruncher and put my hair up in a towel, than while its air drying scrunch some more of the conditioner/leave-in into my hair, but still use the olive oil to keep out the frizz. i don't use much because too much oil makes my hair look greasy and clumpy(and not in a pretty explosion of curls way clumpy either).

i have type 3b, 3c hair
thick
dry
and falling out. . . again. . .

please give me some advice, references to cheap products to use, and some tried and true methods. thanks

most of the Tresemme and John Freida products have silicones in them, which can't be removed unless you shampoo your hair and if you don't shampoo your hair they seal your hair cuticles shut so no moisture can get in.

If I were you I would shampoo out all those gunky products and start using ones without cones. I use Giovanni Leave-In Conditioner with Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Gel, and Suave Coconut conditioner when I'm washing my hair. I also used L'Oreal Out of Bed as a styling product but I like the leave-in conditioner better.

Also, when drying your hair, using a cotton long-sleeved shirt works better than towels because it won't dry your hair out too much. It's called "plopping" where you put the shirt on a flat surface, tip your head upside-down so you lower your hair into it, then tie the sleeves on the back of your head with the rest of the shirt covering your hair.

So yes. You can look at people's signatures (that appear at the bottom of their comments) for product ideas or use the search bar to search threads, or just look around. That's how I found all of my favorites.

ok i've used plopping before, but i stopped because it was really uncomfortable and kind of embarrasing walking around my house with a shirt on my head. i have three brothers, so the ragging was endless. . .
what would be the best shampoo? i checked my herbal essences shampoo that i haven't used in forever, and every other ingredient is a sulfate.

Any shampoo that doesn't contain silicones will be fine. Make sure you use a good conditioner afterward that also doesn't contain silicones. Suave clarifying shampoo is cheap and will get the job done.

For co washing a lot of people like to use the suave naturals coconut conditioner. It's silicone free and provides good slip but it's lightweight enough to make a good co wash. The GF triple nutrition is very popular around here too. If you like the results it's giving you then you can use that as a rinse out conditioner. Some people also like to use a little bit of it as a leave in too. There's a whole thread about it on the main board if you want to check it out.

For me staying away from sulfates and silicones has made a big difference in my hair and how fast it grows. As soon as I quit using sulfate shampoos my hair started growing like wildfire. If you're not up to speed on the whole "CG" method you can check out the newbie section. It goes over everything in great detail. Hope this helps you some. Getting the silicones out of your hair and getting some moisture in there should help quite a bit.
